Say goodbye and get going again

Lucy turns to you, her eyes seeking help to get her out of the hole she seems to have dug for herself, something she seems to have a great skill in doing.

“We’d love to stay and hunt out some of that fun,” you begin, savouring the look that spreads across Lucy’s face, as your words are not helping her out at all, “but we were meant to be somewhere about ten minutes ago, and as always, Lucy has made us late.”

She throws you a smile of thanks at recovering the moment, and stands, giving the dog a final pat.

“Yeah, we are going to get a good earful for being late again ain’t we Dani” she adds as she begins to move away down the path.

“Well, you are, that’s for sure” you tell her as you smile a goodbye to the dog walker and quickly head off with Lucy down the path.

“God, thought I’d never get away from him” she whispers as you get far enough away.

”Well, would serve you right, talking to old men, one of these days you are going to have to start taking a ladder with you when you go out.” She turns with a quizzical look at your ladder comment. “Your holes are getting deeper” you add to explain your joke.

“Right, club or pub then?” you ask as you exit the park.
