Marie didn't dare run out into that storm. It was far too late for that. She'd get soaked!

Except...she wasn't faring much better standing in that puddle. She felt the water pooling more around the soles of her boots every second, not a very comfortable feeling seeing how her feet were otherwise bare.

She reacted on impulse, and moved closer to the wall, pushing up with both hands to ease her skirted rear onto the edge of the counter used for serving drinks to guests. The window was closed for the day, so no one was there to object or give her any unpleasant looks.

Except she realized something was missing.

Her newly bared feet were swaying above the ground, having been pulled right out of her damp, undone boots.

"Oh no...!" Marie blushed and pulled her legs up. Talk about making a scene! Without any shoes, her skirt seemed even shorter! She had to do something!
