Samantha tells you about her Uncle

“I don’t want you to think of me as a victim, John,” Samantha says seriously. “I was 18 and it was consensual. But my uncle…” She pauses to let that sink in.

You try to keep your reaction to yourself. Your heart races, but you keep a straight face.

“...My dad’s brother. He was visiting my family and we were up late talking and it was cool because he gave me a beer, which my parents never would have done. They were asleep. And he asked about boyfriends and I told him I hadn’t had any, and I had never been kissed.”

You nod along, trying to let her know that you’re nod judging her.

“And well, he helped change that. He offered to kiss me. I said, yes. And we made out. While my parents were asleep upstairs.”

Samantha pauses before taking a deep breath to continue her confession.

“And while we were in the kitchen he reached between my legs. And he touched me… there.” She was looking down at her hands, but then looks up at you to make sure it’s safe to continue sharing. She sees nothing but warmth from you, so she goes on. “He slid in a finger. And well, he got me off.”

“I never touched my uncle,” she quickly clarifies. ”But he sucked on his finger after, and that was the first time that I realized that a guy could even be interested in a woman that way.”

“Wow, that’s quite the story,” you say.

“I’ve like never told anyone,” Samantha says quietly. “That was a one-time thing. He left the next day and I thanked him and gave him a big hug.” She pauses again. “I know it sounds bad, but it was a positive experience and I still love my uncle a lot.”

“Thanks for sharing that with me. It sounds like it really did help you grow,” you say and she nods her head solemnly.”
