Sam comes out of the house

A shadow crossed in front of Kyle. Looking up into the light, he had to blink several times to get his eyes adjusted to the light. He saw Sam standing there.

“I’m going to the mall with the guys... and Kim. We’re going to go see the new super hero flick.”

“Don’t you have OTHER THINGS to do?” Kyle whispered harshly at his brother.

“Hey, I HAVE been! I’ve TRIED! You can’t expect me to **** all summer on this!”

“Is there a problem?” Robin asked, a concerned look on her face.

“No,” Kyle said with a nervous laugh. “Just making sure Sam was going to do what he PROMISED to do, that’s all.”

Theresa then announced to the girls that she had iced tea, and the sunbathers all retreated to the patio. Sam shook his head and headed back inside for the last round of video games.

“Is something wrong?” Melissa asked Kyle, her face etched with concern.

“Seriously, Kylie,” Robin added. “If one of my girls has a problem, we ALL have a problem.” She winked at Kyle.

“No... Sam just promised he’d try to fix something for me.” Kyle admitted. “But with Kim around, he seems to have lost focus.”

“Hey!” Darla said, “Robin, don’t you have a cute cousin about Sam’s age? Isn’t she looking for a boyfriend? We could get her to distract Sam from Kim!”

“Great idea!” Robin said, and immediately began texting someone, probably her cousin.

“Look, I...”

“Got your back, girlfriend,” Robin said, smiling as she sent several more texts.

Kyle sighed. Could this get any worse? Sam would soon have two girls after him, in heaven, and he’d be stuck as Kylie until Amy got back.

The boys eventually emerged from the game room. Sam walked over to the patio, asking, “So, superhero movie. Are any of you interested in going?”

Kim came over and stood next to Sam. “So, is she going or not?” She asked, annoyedly.
