Sam and Piper

Cori’s groan was interrupted by guitar music from behind her.

“Cori’s aim was far from great,

So she became a monster’s mate.

She couldn’t hit a barn’s broadside,

Now she spends her days as a monster’s bride.”

Her sorority sister Sam was lounging on the patio, one leg over the arm of the love seat, casually strumming her guitar.

“It isn’t me, this stupid paintball gun is messed up. The guide is broken or something” replied Cori.

“Let me try” said Sam as Cori handed over the gun. A second later the scarecrow’s pumpkin head turned pink. “Seems fine to me” she said, shrugging, before returning to her seat and her lazy strumming.

“I don’t think you will have time to improve your aim by tomorrow. Maybe you should just spend the time getting your hair done. Braids maybe? Something for your monster boyfriend to pull on?” said the newcomer, Piper. Cori stuck out her tongue at Piper’s playful ribbing. Piper walked over and kissed Sam before taking a seat on the loveseat with Sam’s head on her lap. The two had started dating about three months ago and were widely considered to be adorable together.

“Are you two sure you are up for tomorrow? You know… jealousy and all?” asked Cori.

Piper shrugged. “It only comes up if we’re caught. And everyone knows that Hunted House doesn’t count as cheating. It is tradition!”

“Besides” added Sam “our relationship is hella strong.” The girlfriends punctuated the point with a fistbump.
