Ideas and outcomes
Sally's idea
Sally shut the door quickly. What could she do...what at all. The eggs on the table sparked a quick idea, and she poured a couple of cups of coffee and heated them in the microwave. While that heated, and the alpha Nova finished his...clicking at the smaller one, she gathered a bunch of food from James's cupboards and set them out.
By the time the two of them returned, Archie looked around. "...Where have your mother and James gone?"
"Oh, just to the store. James realized he'd left all his eggs out, so they're not safe."
Archie looked confused, flickering white and yellow. "But we get more nourishment from-"
"-For him, I mean... That's all of his eggs, so if he's going to have breakfast..."
The smaller Nova flickered all sorts of colors while pointing at the counter. Archie glanced over everything. "...And this?"
"Well, he asked me to make you guys feel welcome! I figure you haven't gotten to try much of the non-fungus food here so, it seemed like a good time. Ever had coffee?", she pushed the cups forward, trying to hide her anxiety.
Archie shook his head, "I shouldn't...it's a sedative for our people. He may need it though, he is rather anxious..."
Several chattering sentences later, and the smaller Nova had emptied both cups. Must be a popular thing for them.
"Well, I have other things here like uh...ooh! Ice cream!"
Archie held a hand up. "No thank you, it's far too cold. It actually poses a danger to our blood temperature."
"Oh...shit. Uuhm...seaweed?"
"I wouldn't mind at all, but he should refrain. Iodine is what results in the changes that our elders have reserved for an alpha. I wouldn't wish to make him feel dejected his first day, though, so I'll pass...but thank you. I should be going-"
"Without James here?"
"I...yes. If you will be here to wait, you are on the list of approved guardian substitutes in case of an emergency."
"Okay but next up was chocolate. No one doesn't like chocolate."
"I really-"
She held out a large bar of the brown treat. "C'mon. One bar isn't going to take so long something will happen, and I can find out if the little guy here will like it."
Archie gave a sigh, mixed with a vibrating grunt. "I suppose...you have a point. It would be rude not to try one thing for a host..."
The smaller Nova gave a series of tired chittering sounds and slow flickers, slouching and wobbling his way to his new room. Archie chattered something back, and a lavender color began to shine in waves through his suit.
