SA 1

You sigh, setting your phone aside as you lean back on the couch. You are bored out of your mind tonight. Being a Friday, all of your handful of friends are out (mostly with their boyfriends), you have no homework for your college courses, nothing to study (considering your major is photography)... You are not in the mood for video games, and there is nothing on TV or YouTube that you feel like watching.

Maybe you should do it tonight. You have been trying to convince yourself to go out by yourself one night, just to get a drink somewhere or something. Maybe it will help you make more friends, **** you to be a little less shy if you just get yourself out of your apartment.

Taking a deep breath, you stand. That's it, then. You will do it. Right now.

Walking into your bedroom, you flip on the lights. The latest set of shopping bags your best friend, Skye, left for you scream at you from the foot of the bed. You hesitate. Why the hell not? This time around, the attire your friend was trying to **** you into is not ridiculously over the top revealing. Appeasing Skye by trying everything on, you had found some of it actually comfortable.

You search the sacks for the right options before changing from your PJs into the little black dress and red heels. Unsteadily, you wobble towards your bathroom, one hand on the wall as you try to adjust to the unfamiliar footwear. Minutes later, you emerge with some simple eyeshadow, liner, mascara, and lipstick decorating her face. You have not worn this much makeup in ages, so you can only hope it looks all right.

You hesitate before grabbing your purse. Quickly, you do two things:

First, you snag a sheer white shrug just in case it gets a little chilly, throwing it over your shoulders.

Second, you take out your wallet and keys and slip the first instead into a smaller, clutch-sized purse that looks a little better with your present attire.

Finally, you grab your favorite necklace, the jade celtic knot pendant resting at the center of your clavicle, about an inch or two above your dress.

Taking a deep breath, you reach for the door knob. A second later, you release the breath, open the portal, and exit into the hall. Locking the door behind you, it is time to make your way out.
