Chapter 9

What now?
Run the diagnostic
Seven slumps back into her alcove as you move to the control panel. "Computer, run level 3 diagnostic on Seven of Nine."
The screen flashes to life, spewing out streams of data. Everything seems normal, until you see a strange spike in her brain wave pattern. "Computer, is this pattern related to the radiation Voyager detected before entering the asteroid field?"
"Negative."
What the hell? There seems to be an overload in one of her Borg implants. Maybe better get her to sick bay. "Cargo Bay 2 to the Doctor..." you say, hitting your communicator. No response. "Cargo Bay 2 to sick bay..." Again, no response. Maybe your communicator is malfunctioning. "Cargo Bay 2 to Engineering..."
"This is Lt. Torres. Go ahead crewman."
"Sorry to bother you, Lieutenant. But I've been trying to hail sickbay..."
"The radiation took the holo-emitters offline. Why, is everyone okay?"
"Um, more or less, Lieutenant. No medical emergency. I just noticed a problem in Seven of Nine's brainwaves. I think I've isolated it, an overload in the circuits in one of her Borg implants. But thought I should check in with the Doctor, or you, before proceeding..."
"Well, the Doc's gonna be offline for the next day or so, and we're pretty busy trying to keep the warp field stabelized in this radiation. Did you say you've isolated the problem?"
You pause, knowing that this is your big chance to prove yourself. "I think so, sir."
"Alright, then go ahead. But if you're in over your head, hail me. Okay, crewman?"
"Yes sir."
Moving back to Seven, you dislodge her from the alcove, practically carrying her back to the turbolift. "Sickbay," you say.
What happens?
