Rise had sat there, waiting, for what felt like hours. It had really been minutes. Long, agonizing, silent minutes, until at last...
"Did you see anything?"
A male voice. A stern, male voice.
A glance confirmed it belonged to a stern, male, police officer.
So much for keeping herself composed.
She clapped a hand over her mouth, **** to stop any sounds from escaping, before cowering deeper into the alcove.
"Not a thing. Craziest thing I ever heard, 'teenage girl running naked through the station'. Ha, not in this lifetime... girl'd have to be out of her damn mind, or ugly as sin."
Both remarks stung, hard, and Rise found herself clenching the phone, suddenly feeling up to breaking something... or someone's jaw.
And yet... she focused on the key parts of the conversation. They hadn't seen anything.
"Guess we'd better report back."
"Yeah, yeah... can't blame me for being a bit disappointed, though..."
With that, the two officers began to head away from the station, which also seemed to be clearing out somewhat. Maybe it would be a little while for the next train, or maybe rush hour was calming down. Either way, for the time being, she was safe until Kanji arrived and-
Wait. How WAS he going to find her?! She just said the train station! He was going to want more information!
"Dummy! Dummy, dummy, dummmmmy!" Rise quickly retrieved her phone, looking to ensure the two officers were gone. Kanji was on the way. He was a lot of things, but he wasn't a liar. Maybe it wouldn't be a good idea to bug him, though... maybe it was best to just lie low and wait. If she got on his nerves anymore than she already had... but what if he didn't find her? What if he gave up and left?
What if someone found her before he did? Rise gulped back her tension, took another tentative look out from her alcove, and-
