Right

Bryan stands in the doorway looking around, listening for footsteps. But then he reminds himself that Jasmine had sneakers on. He’d never be able to pick those footsteps up.

“Bryan? What’s wrong? Answer me please! I can’t see.”

“Well, you know I’m still here seeings how you have a **** grip on my hand.”

“Don’t make fun of me, you don’t know how it is to not be able to see!” She whines, and Bryan can imagine tears starting to form. He instantly feels sorry for her, regretting his choice of words, and tone. This wasn’t her fault. Okay, fine she dragged him in here, but it was Jasmine who decided to go in. And then promptly disappear.

“I’m sorry that came out harsher than I intended. Really.”

“So, what’s wrong?”

“There’s more than one door in this room, Kathryn…”

“C-call me Kate, please.” Her voice wavers as she says this.

“Okay, Kate.” Bryan says, in the most soothing tone he can, given the circumstances. “There are three doors in this room. Well, four including the one behind us.”

“And you don’t see Jasmine?”

“I can’t even hear Jasmine, Kate. I have no idea where she went.”

“This is all my fault. If I didn’t have night blindness this wouldn’t have happened.” She says.

“Hey now, Kate. This is not your fault. And it’s not like we can’t get out of here. We can always go back to the entrance.”

“That’s not the point…I…”

“It’s not your fault how you were born. And so what? You can’t see in the dark. Whoop de doo. Other than that you are practically perfection as far as I can see.”

Her sniffling stops as she hears this, “You think so? But all my friends were always making fun of me, because I couldn’t drive at night. Because I practically had to be led around by the hand at night.”

“Then they weren’t your friends. I for one don’t mind leading you around by the hands…” Bryan stops suddenly as he hears a sound in the distance. He thinks it came from their right. “Come on, we’ll go down this way. To the right. One room, if we don’t see her we’ll go back. Okay.”

“O…okay.”
