Chapter 2

You Turn?
Right (Anna Jansen, Female, 20)
I remembered what I promised mother. I needed to ensure Robin was safe. The Nazis could invade our homeland, but they couldn't tear our families apart. I biked for several miles, but I eventually reached our apartment. Since mother died a year earlier, I shared an apartment with my younger brother Robin. Robin was nice but maybe a little...eccentric. Fast-paced may be a better word. He was always ahead, especially in academics. However we didn't have enough money to send him to university. Not that he cared, he would rather spend the day at home with his tea and blackboard, writing those seemingly endless physics theorems and equations and whatnot.
I earned the money as a merchant to support us both. The local dock hands called me 'Anna the Frugal'. I always was on the lookout for a bargain. Robin was terrible with money. He always spent his money on chalk or pencils for his "projects." That wasn't our only difference. Robin took after father with his blond hair, blue eyes and slim build. I took after mother with my crimson hair and hazel eyes.
I put my bike in the hallway and walked upstairs. I opened the door and walked inside. The moon cast a white light as it rose in the sky. I walked to Robin's room and shouted "I'm home" a short ruckus followed, I chuckled and went to prepare dinner. As I was making the finishing touches there was a knock at the door. I walked to the door and opened it.
Who's there? Gestapo, A neighbor, or another uninvited party.
Rhapsody in Orange
A tale of highs and lows for some lost souls.
1940, A world of turmoil. Choose to be a Dutch soldier on the retreat from the Wehrmacht. Or a young woman trying to keep her family safe. Or maybe someone else, you decide your fate and the fates of others.
