Ride back to the hotel.

“You really are quite the gentleman,” Candace says as we settle in for the drive back to the hotel.

“Manners maketh man,” I reply back hoping to sound a little self-deprecating.

“You’ve read Horman I see,” Candace mistakenly notes.

“Yeah, no sorry. I got it from The Kingsmen movie,” I admit a bit embarrassed.

“Well, a gentleman still regardless. I can see why Piya hid you away from me all those years ago,” she tells me.

“I’m not sure what you mean,” I say a bit confused by this.

“Well you may not actually know this but I’ve actually seen you once before all this and not at the hospital either.”

I listen in, intrigued by what Candance has to say. I’m sure I would have remembered if we’ve ever crossed paths before.

“It was back three years ago. I had graduated the year beforehand and had a weekend night off for the first time in forever, new interns schedules are the worst, so I’d gone out to a party to catch up with some of my university friends from the year below. Piya would have been in her fourth year which I guess means you would have been in your second. Anyway, I ran into Piya at some student function and we catch up like old times. The way she couldn’t stop talking about some new random guy she’d met at uni I assumed she’d finally given that douchebag she’d been seeing the axe and given him the flick. So I tell her I can’t wait to meet him and she goes real quiet so I figure I’d better drop it. We have a few drinks and I spot this handsome spunk of a guy enter the party and think to myself why not. Professor Brown had just been fired and was trying to reconcile with his wife so I was single. I pointed the guy out to Piya and I have never seen her go so white. I ask her what’s wrong and she claims she’s not feeling well. We say goodbye and promise to catch up soon. Not five minutes later and I see our girl Piya leaving the party with the guy I had spotted. Piya and I didn’t talk for a long while after that and it wasn’t until after I’d stitched you up at the hospital that I realised that the guy was actually you.”

I’m a little stunned by the revelation that Candace and I could have met before and a bit flattered to learn that even back then Piya was trying to keep me all to herself.

“I wish I could recall the party exactly but I went to so many back then and I dropped Piya home a lot of the time too. I would have loved to have met you back then I’m sure,” I tell Candace honestly. Piya was seeing her ex then and Candace would have certainly been my type.

Candace smiles saying, “well I wasn’t quite the picture I am now then. I get to look after myself much better on a doctors salary and I certainly didn’t have these back then.” At that Candace takes a hold of her pert breasts through her silk blouse and shakes them up and down one at a time. I can’t help but stare as the material clings to her ample globes with each movement.

“Those aren’t real?” I ask.

“Nope. All the best money can buy. You can have a feel if you want.”

Tempting as it sounds, “I’d better not.”

“See. A gentleman just like I said.”

In the time it took Candace to tell her story of our almost chance encounter, our taxi had reached the hotel. Candace insisted on paying saying the hospital would gladly pay for anything that might help get Piya to come work for them. In the lobby we part to go our separate ways but not before Candace invites me to join her by the pool, once again offering to let me rub lotion in all the places she can’t reach. I tell her I have somethings I need to do first but would be happy to meet up with her later to wait for Piya to finish at the conference.

Unlocking Piya and my room, I’m glad to be by myself for a moment. I haven’t spoken to Yui since the airport and am dying to see how she is. I kick off my shoes and stretch out on the amazing king-sized bed to give her a call, hoping she will be able to pick up.
