Remain quiet

You decide that it's better not to risk any kind of action that he might misinterpret at this point. Besides, the more he thinks that you will be quiet and submissive, the better your chances of catching him off guard and either escaping or overpowering him.

So you cower down, pulling your shoulders together and look down away from him. Your eyes come to rest on his bare feet. You hear him continue to emit that low, rumbling growl, and the tendons on top of his bare feet flex through his skin as he shifts his weight around slightly, obviously considering what to do with you. You cringe a little further away from him, a little further down and into yourself, and he seems to be appeased, as his feet turn and he walks away from you toward his fire pit.

You watch him gather some dried out leaves and sticks and pile them on what you now see are some glowing embers. He starts poking them around with a stick trying to get them to light faster. He sees you watching him and glares at you, clearly telling you to stay where you are. On the other hand, if you can get him to let you help him light the fire, perhaps he will be a bit less hostile toward you.
