Red, red wine...

Beth and Derek were seated immediately, and from the conversation with the hostess, Beth surmised that Derek had a regular table.
"Enjoy your meal." The pretty blonde couldn't have been older than 19, and she had a knowing smile on her face {if Formation = 1
} that confused Beth a little.
"I told you," Derek explained when he saw her confusion. "I eat here all the time."
"Oh." Beth replied without understanding. What does that mean?{else
}that made Beth a little suspicious. What was that look for? When she voiced her question, Derek laughed.
"I've been here with Yasmin a few times, and I've brought dates... she probably thinks I'm some kind of Casanova or something." He laughed as if that was the most ludicrous idea in the world. {endif

When the waiter came to the table, Derek turned to Beth. "Do you drink red wine?"

}"Yeah...sure." She didn't drink much wine at all, but she liked red wine when she had it. "I'm not that experienced with wine, to be honest."
"No problem. Why don't you start us with a bottle of the Luigi Righetti, 2017. And we'll take a look at the menus, okay."
"Absolutely, Mr. Hawkins."
"Thanks, Jeff." Beth stared blankly at him. "I told you, I come here all the time. Everybody knows me here." Beth looked around, and then at the prices. Damn... must be nice to be partner, even a junior partner. Her eyes popped at the $69 price tag on the bottle he had ordered.

}"Absolutely." Beth smiled. "I prefer Pinot Noir, but since you're buying, I'll defer to you."
"No, Pinot sounds great. Start us off with a bottle of the Adelsheim would you, Jeff? We'll take some time with the menus."
"Very good, Mr. Hawkins."
"Well, aren't you just Mr. Popular around here." Beth laughed. Her eyes popped a little at the $68 price tag on the bottle of wine he had ordered.
"Order whatever you want." He seemed to know her thoughts. "Seriously." His look was intense. Must be nice to have money to burn.

}The wine that Derek had ordered was incredible: strong and aromatic and with a jammy sweetness that Beth had never tasted before in a red wine. By the time appetizers were being cleared away, Derek had ordered a second bottle, and Beth was starting to feel light-headed. She giggled at his banter and her cheeks felt hot.
"More wine?"
"Mmmhmm!" she nodded, holding up her glass for him to pour from the freshly opened bottle. {else
}Beth enjoyed the Oregon Pinot as they talked and ate appetizers. Derek had chosen wisely, and she found herself hard pressed not to guzzle the delicious wine. It had been a while since she'd had better than 9$ bottles of cheap liquor store red. Tightening their belts for the wedding was a bummer sometimes. {endif
