Reassuring him

As the two girls head to the bathroom, Alex turns to you. "Um...I don't-"

"It's OK. It's Mel. She's like that. I'll explain later."

"But what do I do?"

You smile. "Have fun. Flirt back!"

He frowns at you. "Are you sure?"

"Of course. You can't stop Mel. And if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Besides, does it mean anything?"

"No."

"Then go for it!"

"Erm...OK...You truly are unique."

You smile and kiss Alex on the cheek as the girls return.

The rest of your afternoon passes without a problem. Becky had obviously said something to Mel. She tones down her flirting and after a glance at you, Alex plays back. The four of you laugh and joke all afternoon. Alex fits in as though he'd known the girls for years.
