Chapter 3

What does she do to deal with the app?
Read the rules
She found her phone and found the “Ultimate Challenge Game” app. It had a rather plain UI that only said, “No current dares”. Below that it had a button for, “Perks Purchasing” and “Rules”. She pressed the rules button and began to read.
“Rule 1: The app or its effects shall not be discussed, shown, or anything else of the sort to people who do not have the app. If this is done all memories of the app will be erased from non-owners and 5 **** punishments will be given to the offender.”
“Rule 2: The punishments and rewards are decided upon by the great creator of this app. They will have a similar theme to the dare. The harder the dare the greater the reward and weaker the punishment. The easier the dare the lesser reward and the greater the punishment. Dares will have a difficulty when given option for which are: trivial, easy, medium, hard, ****, impossible. Some punishments will have a rating signaling how much they increase/decrease that trait options for which are: insignificant, minor, significant, major, ****, outrageous.”
“Rule 3: All rewards are in the form of coins which can only be spent in the perks purchasing section of the app. All sales are final. The things in the store vary widely from cash to assorted items the user might want. The user can also use the perks purchasing section to become a dare giver, buy dare removers, or purchase punishment removers.”
“Rule 4: Even if the user’s phone is off notifications from the app will start the phone and give auditory alert to the user. If the phone is not within 10 ft of the user an alert will transport it to their hand.”
“Rule 5: Once downloaded the app is impossible to remove from the user’s phone. If the user changes phones the app with its status will be transferred to a new phone”
After reading the rules, Emily immediately went to the perks purchasing section. Sure enough, she could use points to purchase all sorts of things, but she did not have any to spend right now. She could receive cash at a value of one point to one dollar. Everything the typed into the search bar, such as clothes, food, and even cars, was there at a price of roughly their dollar value. After confirming that she tried supernatural things like, an increase in bodily strength, mind reading abilities, and de-aging of the user’s body, and they were all there, though at ridiculous prices. Emily then confirmed a few items that were hinted at in the rules.
“Undo Punishment 1: 700,000 points”
“Undo Punishment 2: 320,000 points”
“Become Daregiver: 1,000,000,000 points”
She did not know how many points she would have received for completing her dares, but she doubted she would have enough to undo her punishments anytime soon.
“What are you doing?”
Emily looked up to see her roommate staring at her. She then looked down to realize she was standing completely nude in the middle of their room while looking at her phone.
She blushed and said, “Sorry I was getting dressed but got distracted.”
Emily moved to put-on some clothes, remembering to forgo underwear. Her roommate, Alice, grunted in reply. They had never been amicable in their two weeks as roommates. The main reason for this was their lack of common interests and Emily’s shyness. Emily was jealous of Alice’s beauty and figure, but the thing she was most jealous of was her ability to easily talk to people, especially boys. Emily finished dressing then remembered she was late to class, so she left without another word. Nothing interesting happened until halfway through class her phone chimed.
What does her phone say?
