Opening the note, I read:

"John;

Jean is now yours to do as you wish. However, in the next week, a representative from the X-Men will be visiting her, to try and convince her to join. If you wish, she can accept that offer, and infiltrate the X-Mansion for you.

Another important note - Jean has quite high-level psychic powers. You will need to keep them in check, but she may prove useful.
