Reach Out to an Old Ally

Ever since Keylara has taken over, you've been thinking of how to depose her. Your military training is taking over and you're beginning to formulate a strategy. You realise that if you want to have any hope of defeating Keylara you will need allies. You will also need information. There is someone from your past who could prove to be a very valuable ally, and will almost certainly give you some useful information.

You lift your head high, and walk out of the cell, earning a reproachful glare from the tattooed woman. You walk slowly through the castle grounds, collecting your thoughts, taking a meandering route to your destination. You keep your head held high and your eyes fixed forward the entire time. It's important for the people to see their leader confident and calm. Eventually you reach your destination, a small stone chapel on the edge of the castle grounds, crammed up against the outer wall. You kneel down at one of the graves in the little picketed graveyard next to the chapel, and pick a broad-leafed flower with purple and black petals.

Carrying the flower, you enter the chapel. You're not surprised to find it empty. Hardly anyone comes in here anymore, not since your father built the grand cathedral on the other side of town. The chapel is small, with a row of wooden pews, a stone altar at the front, and twelve alcoves, each occupied with a statue of a saint. You approach the third alcove on the right-hand wall, and the statue it contains. Unlike many of the other statues, which are cast in metal, this one is stone. It depicts a woman with soft-features, shrouded in a long cloak, so that only her eyes are visible. One of her hands is partially open at her side. You place the purple and black flower in the statue's hand and walk away. That's the signal for your ally to reach out to you. You can only hope they're still out there somewhere, because you're going to need all the help you can get.

You exit the chapel while the sun is still low in the sky, you have plenty of time before you need to go and see Mistress Keylara.
