Prologue: Assemble the team for Operation Fire Hose

On TV and in movies, if you see a super-spy, he's probably in a glamorous two-seater or flying on a private jet. While CEDIT had these sorts of things, they didn't bust them out for every case. Every now and then, it fell upon the team to trek from place to place in the good old-fashioned unmarked van full of surveillance gear. For this mission, the drive was short enough to make it by van. This handler position wasn't about cushy desk-work at all... you were going to be toughing it out, just like the average field agent. Your initiation would be feet to the fire, and indeed, your initiation into the Goodbye Girls would be trial by fire... In this case, both expressions might be taken literally.

The giant blond, Au Revoir, had dressed in a gray, sleeveless top, with camoflauge print pants, looking just like Arnold Schwarzenegger in Commando, including as far as muscle mass went. Her combat boots clopped across the ground as she strode with huge steps. In contrast, Despedida was wearing her fashionable ensemble of a heavy winter coat, a patterned, side-turned cap, an anime print t-shirt, and slightly baggy jeans. She always looked fashionable, but was that really proper spy gear?

Despedida loaded her tech equipment into the back with care; part of being a tech expert meant not throwing your expensive machines around recklessly. You, on the other hand, had packed so light, all you had with you was a change of clothes, a service pistol, and the two tech items Goodbye had provided you during briefing. Au Revoir nearly threw everyone's care out the window, as she recklessly tossed weapon after weapon into the back. You and Despedida both dove for cover, not knowing whether they were loaded... "Oh, you big babies!" The woman slapped her meaty thighs with amusement at your reactions. "Scared of a little bullet?"

Yes! You were very scared of Au Revoir's bullets and you weren't afraid to admit that! A healthy fear of being shot wasn't just an important part of being a spy, it was a part of survival as a human being!

"I didn't pack any rings, so if I get hit, I get an instant death!" Despedida complained. "Is this your first time meeting Au Revoir? She's a nut..."

"Ha ha ha! What rings? Is that a new gadget? I never understand a thing that you say, Despy!"
