Problems in the Gynoid pens

-it’s me!- Bill thought as they looked over the breeder Gynoid’s pen. -here!-

“I think Bill’s mind is in this one!” John said as he scanned one of the gynoids.

It was the wrong one. “Look we have to hurry. If this gets reported we’ll be in all kinds of trouble.” Luke said.

“Yeah but if we get it wrong-“ John

“Look, you said you thought you knew. That’s good enough. Swap his mind back into his body!” Luke insisted.

John nodded, sweat beading on his forehead, as he approached the gynoid he had pointed out. The room was filled with the soft hum of machinery and the faint smell of ozone. Bill’s eyes grew wide as John’s trembling hands hovered over the gynoid’s neck, the mind transfer device poised for action.

“Ready?” Jack asked, trying to hide the fear in his voice.

Luke nodded, his eyes never leaving the gynoid.

Bill could only stare ahead. Mind racing as they prepared to transfer another gynoids mind back into his body. It was eerie, seeing his own body lying lifeless on the table, knowing that another mind was about to be transferred back into it. The anticipation was palpable, a mix of excitement and dread. The other gynoid's eyes flickered slightly, as if it too knew something significant was about to happen.

Jack took a deep breath and pressed the button on the mind transfer device. The gynoid's eyes rolled back, and its body jerked once before going still. Bill watched in horror. That was meant to be him!!!!

“What’s happening? Did it work?” Jack screamed, unable to contain his panic.

But Bill was silent, trapped in the wrong body, unable to communicate. The gynoid’s body remained still, eyes unblinking, a stark contrast to the chaos around it. Luke rushed over, his own heart racing as he checked the readings on the machine. “Yeah, Bill is back. We’re all good. Let’s put these gynoids back in stasis and get Bill out of here.

They hurriedly worked to transfer the gynoid’s mind back into what they assumed was its original body. The process was quicker this time, having learned from their mistake. As the gynoid’s eyes flickered open, it looked around in confusion, trying to make sense of its surroundings. Luke and Jack shared a relieved sigh, wrongly thinking the plan had worked. The real Bill knew better. And then she was in stasis.
