"Alright boys, I have a challenge for you to solve." Brenan responded pretty sure both that he needed the two to man his ship, and that they would be able to come up with a solution to his dilema about Red and Cindy that was at least as good as any he had worked out. The two brothers exchanged a look of confidence which made pretty sure they were used to being tested in this fashion.

"I need to sail with the evening tide tomorrow in order to make it to Veertor in time to make my delivery. However my first mate and one of my crew are currently on the north face of this island with the ship's boat nearly a full day's ride from here. How can I make this work?"

With that Brenan sat down next to Davy on his swing and watched the twins talk. james was using sticks to lay out a rough map, when Julien aproached the pair on the bench.

"Uncle Davy, do you have a map of the island and sea charts of the island and the islands to the north that we can look at?" It was a good start reckoned Brenan, Davy probably did have a fairly good collection of charts, and working of a reliable map was better than relying on James collection of twigs and pebbles. Although to be fair to James from what Brenan could see from his seat his memory looked pretty good.

"Find out what kind of ship the captain is sailing and how many knots he expects her to make?" Yelled James from where he was squatting.

"It's a square topped two masted schooner" Brenan told Julien before he could ask "she draws about three fathoms loaded, and if your uncle here hasn't been lying to me she should make 10 knots easily, even with a green crew."

As Davy led Julien into his office, Brenan was amused to see James checking the book of ship designs that he and Davey Jr. had been examning earlier to look up information about what a square topped schooner was.

It took about thirty minutes but when the brothers called Brenan in to Davy's office they had worked out a plan; similar to what Brenan had but notable for the prescision of its details.

"Julien here leave on Uncle Davy's horse at dawn tomorrow. He will ride out to your first mate, carrying a map which I will make tonight as well as a letter from you with her orders." Brenan flinched a little when he James said orders, but no matter how nicely phrased letter was, they would be orders, and he did expect Red to follow them. Julien continued:

"I should be able to get there in the afternoon, and deliver the information. Then we have two plans for getting Uncle Davy's horse back to him as soon as posible." He grinned at Davy good naturedly before continuing.

"Your officer may know of a plantation owner that regularly travels into Freeport, if so I'll drop the horse off with them and walk back to where she has the ship's boat harbored and sail with her to meet with you. If that doesn't work, I'll ride to Rockledge here, he pointed to the largest town on the north face and hire a groomsman to bring Davy's horse back. In that case I'll spend the night in Rockledge, and your officer will make a stop in Rockledge harbor and pick me up." He stopped to look at Brenan, "Depending on which senario works out it should cost between one and three crowns to get Davy's horse back to him." James picked up the plan pointing to a small villiage on the North East tip of the island.

"This will be our meeting spot. We should be able to get there easily by the day after tomorrow and the others can be there sometime later in the same day." Both brothers looked up expectantly at Brenan.

"What if Julien or Red, my first officer" he added "get delayed? Or for that matter what if something holds us up?" Brenan asked, thinking but not saying anything of the Veer agents looking for Sasha. The brothers looked a little embarrassed that they had not considered a fall back plan. Brenan nodded and said:

"Add two more check points that we can meet at to your map, one closer to Red's beach house, and the other closer to us here in Freeport. If it looks like we won't make the original time table, we can check in there - just in case." Brenan saw Davy grinning in amusement from the far side of the office; Davy knew the plan was good, but he also knew that as a captain Brenan would always find something to add to it. Can't have the help thinking they know more than their captain.
