Princess Peach

She read it out loud slowly. "Princess... Peach...OH! I know this one! I play that Smash brother's game on your switch when you aren't here and she is my favorite!" Like a kid opening a present she held the paper close to her. "I know exactly how adorable you will look! I can't believe I get to dress you up so cute!" I tried to interject that I had planned on doing gender-bent stuff but she gave me no chance. She was already off to start crafting away my downfall. I had two options now: To go along with her plans and likely humiliate myself beyond repair or to break her heart and let her know I had other plans. Clearly only one of those options was truly plausible. My brain tried to rationalize dressing up as a princess and what that would mean if someone I knew saw me.

I kept trying to think of ways to get out of it such as maybe she would like the idea of gender-bent Princess Peach or maybe she will let me choose another? All of the ideas that were rushing through my head were cut short as she came prancing back into my room with something in a box. "You have no idea how excited this makes me!" The box said 'June' along with our graduation year. She placed it down on the counter and opened the box. Inside was a very expensive looking tiara clearly meant for graduation. "This is a family heirloom and I am thrilled we will get at least one good use out of it!" without asking she turned and placed it on my head. "Ahhh! So cute! Though we will have to grow out your hair a bit." her fingers played through my already longer than normal hair."And of course, we will need to get rid of the rest of it." as she ran her fingers across my chin.

"Mom! Please!" my face was bright red and I was worried now more than ever about just how far she would take it.

"Don't you worry hun. I promise to do my best to make sure you win that contest. You will be the best Princess Peach!" she leaned down and planted a kiss on my cheek and left the room without taking the tiara. Clearly this had made her night. I can only hope she loses this enthusiasm quickly so that I can resume my normal plans.
