Trying to help

“My friend and his boyfriend are in there!” Shauna yelled to the employee at the controls.

“This ride is old as fuck.” The operator said. “I can’t make it go faster. You need to leave.”

“I’m not leaving without my best friend.” She yelled. She grabbed the microphone on the controls away from the young man and began yelling into it.

“Patty, Billy, you got to get out of there!!! The ride’s on fire!”

Time seemed to slow to a crawl as the seconds passed. Smoke had begun to come out of the entrances to the tunnels.

Within a few moments, Patty and Billy came running out of the tunnel, coughing loudly. Shauna and the ride operator helped them get further away from the fire.

By this point a fire truck had arrived and the firefighters got to work. An ambulance also arrived for the boys.

A police officer came over to talk to Shauna

“Did you happen to see anything suspicious?” She asked.

“Yeah... my friend... after he went on the ride with his boyfriend, I saw another friend of ours walking away from the back of the ride. I think... I think she might be homophobic or something because she’s not taken our friend coming out well... and I... I just...”

“It’s okay.” The officer said “you might not have been in there but your were still scared for your friend. He was lucky you were here...”

The officer had her partner bring Shauna some water.

“Do you think she caused the fire?” The officer asked as Shauna drank.

“I... I hope not. I honestly pray it was all a coincidence... but... I just don’t know how far she’s willing to go..
