Chapter 27 by LLation
What's next?
Barbara meets Jason
Barbara felt at home in the dark.
It hadn’t always been that way. She’d once been a very cheerful girl who loved to play outside in the sunlight, surrounded by her friends from school and cheered on by her parents. Then her mother had died. An aggressive form of cancer had reduced her once-doting mother into a bedridden wreck who spent the last months of her life in agonizing pain. Barbara hadn’t felt more helpless in her life than when she watched her mother waste away in a hospital bed, unable to move or do anything on her own. A part of Barbara had died with her. She grew to despise the very memory of the joy she’d once had in her life. How naïve and foolish she’d been to believe that the world was all sunshine and rainbows. She grew conscious of the suffering pervading the city around her. She’d thought about becoming a doctor and had even been told she had the smarts for it, but medical school was expensive and worse, time-consuming.
The answer to her problems had, interestingly enough, come from her own father. James Gordon had had an illustrious career as an officer and later detective with the GCPD, rising to the rank of Commissioner. She’d broached the topic of joining the **** with him, but he’d been vehemently against it. Intellectually, she’d understood that her father had only wanted to protect her, but the rejection had stung, creating a rift between the two that still hadn’t completely healed.
Barbara set off on her own, learning martial arts and researching criminals. She’d been enraptured by stories of Gotham’s Caped Crusader, Batman, who waged a one-man war against crime. When rumors that Batman had taken on an apprentice named Robin, she knew she couldn’t wait anymore. She’d been a very athletic girl for most of her childhood and had taken to crime fighting like a fish to water. Her activities had drawn the interest of one of Gotham’s gangs and it was only due to the quick intervention of Batman that she’d lived to tell the tale.
The meeting had heralded a new chapter in her life forged in the fire of Bruce Wayne’s teachings. She’d come to love the night. It was the only time she felt she could be herself. The nerdy college student persona she’d adopted had felt as foreign to her as an alien from Krypton.
She smiled.
Maybe not the best analogy. Kara would probably have a few words to say about our friendship if I told her that.
Thinking about the blonde alien made her smile, the urgency of her current mission melting away somewhat.
She’d probably come running – or rather flying – if I said I needed help, but I can’t. I can’t take advantage of her like that. I know she wouldn’t see it that way, but Kara deserves better than that. Besides, Gotham really isn’t a good place for her with that super-hearing of hers.
Gotham changed people. Loosened the impulses they normally kept in check while while tainting their worldview. It had affected Bruce heavily, though he’d never admit it. There was just something about Gotham that brought out in the worst in people. Never was that more obvious at night when the city was dark except for the cold lights it had created for itself.
She felt the darkness changing her, too, as she approached the abandoned warehouse.
“No guards. Are we sure this is the right place?” Dick whispered over their shared communication link. Her was clad in his midnight-black Nightwing costume with a dark blue semblance of a bird emblazoned on the chest.
Barbara nodded.
“Yeah. This is the place. Black Canary, Green Arrow, Huntress. You guys see anything?”
“Nope!” Helena chirped over the line. The busty, violet-clad vigilante was taking the possible exposure of her identity in stride. If anything, she seemed happy to be out on a real mission which carried the possibility of beating up some criminals.
Barbara resisted the urge to roll her eyes.
“Yeah, what she said,” Oliver returned from casing the entire building. His fiancé stood next to him, though Dinah didn’t look like she had much to say. “There’s nothing here in the lot or the nearby buildings, though I did see signs people have been using the place. Oh, and I definitely saw something move in there, though I couldn’t get a good look at what it was. Could have been a rat or something.”
Barbara nodded despite the unease which crept up her spine. A voice inside her urged her to leave, to go back to the Clocktower and forget all of this had ever happened.
Why am I so on edge? I’ve got four competent people watching my back. Probably just nerves.
She shook her head, calming herself.
“Okay. Nightwing and I will take the front entrance. The three of you take the back. Fan out and search for any guards. We’ll move towards the warehouse center until we find something, anything that could tell us who hacked into the Clocktower’s network. Radio in as soon as you see anyone.”
Oliver looked like he wanted to argue with her, but Dinah put a hand on his shoulder gently nudged him away. He relented, falling into step alongside her. Barbara sent her a thankful grin and got a wink in return before the two of them jogged towards the side of the warehouse, disappearing from sight.
Helena brushed past her, smirking.
“You two kids wanna be alone just like old times, huh? Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do~”
Barbara rolled her eyes as Helena sauntered after Dinah and Oliver.
Dick chuckled.
“That must be fun to work with on a daily basis.”
Barbara sighed and began making her way to the warehouse’s front entrance. She tried the door. Unlocked.
“It’s really not that bad. Huntress can be a little annoying since she rarely takes our missions seriously. She’s a good fighter, though, and despite my initial concerns she really helps lighten the mood.”
Dick nodded. He put a hand on top of hers and they opened the door together. The hinges creaked quietly. They paused, waiting for anyone to come and investigate the noise. A minute passed. Then another. Finally, they entered the warehouse.
Her eyes scanned the warehouse’s interior. The lights were on, but they were rather dim. She could only see well about twenty or so feet ahead and much of her view was blocked by old, forgotten pallets that looked like they’d been stacked and left there before she’d even been born.
Not a lot of dust around, though. And a few of these pallets actually look like they might have been moved recently.
Dick caught her eye and nodded at the pallets, seemingly reaching the same conclusion as her. His hands hovered over his holstered Escrima sticks.
They spent the next few minutes going through the warehouse. They found signs that it had been used recently, but no actual people and no clues as to the source of the movement Oliver had seen. There were just so many pallets stacked high. The place almost looked like a maze. She briefly considered using her grapple gun to propel herself up to a higher elevation, but held off. Chances were the hook would clang loudly against the metal of the rafters, revealing her position to whoever happened to be in the warehouse with them.
“Batgirl here. Any of you find anything?” she whispered into her com unit.
Static answered her.
“This is Batgirl calling Green Arrow, Huntress, and Black Canary. If any of you can hear me, please respond.”
More static.
Her eyes flicked to Dick. He tried his own communication unit and shook his head.
“I heard you over the link loud and clear. The comms are working just fine. They’re just not answering,” he said coldly, his eyes narrowing.
“Uh. Hello. Is this thing on?” a man’s voice spoke over their channel. He sounded young, possibly barely out of high school.
“Who is this?” she nearly growled into the communications unit. It was virtually impossible to access her encrypted frequency without knowing it beforehand. Whoever was speaking to them had to have taken a communication device from someone she’d trusted.
“Me? I’m the guy who took out your three little friends. Relax, they’re still alive. For now. That could change if you don’t do exactly what I say.”
Dick grabbed his Escrima sticks.
“Friends? Who are you talking about?” Barbara played dumb. Maybe she could buy herself a little time figure out how to get out of this situation.
“What? You mean you don’t remember Dinah Lance or Helena Bertinelli? The three of you were all so friendly with each other back in your base. And what about Green Arrow, or should I say Oliver Queen? Don’t tell me you haven’t heard of him.”
Barbara clenched her fists.
Dammit. Somehow this guy managed to beat three highly-skilled fighters without me and Dick even hearing the commotion. He must have gotten the drop on them somehow.
“What do you want?” she said.
The smug chuckle on the other line made her want to scream.
“Put down your weapons and all your gadgets, including your communication devices. Oh, and take your masks off. That includes you, Nightwing. Yes, I’m watching you. I’ve had my eyes on the both of you since you and friends showed up. Try anything funny or contact anyone outside the warehouse and you won’t be seeing your friends again, Barbara.”
She tensed at the casual mention of her name.
He knows who I am and he’s been watching us the entire time, but how? There weren’t any external cameras on the warehouse walls and there was nothing on the roof or surrounding buildings. I checked.
She and Dick shared a long look. After a few moments, he sighed and threw his sticks to the ground.
“No!” Barbara grabbed Dick by his arms. “We can’t play his game. He still doesn’t know who you are.”
Nightwing shook his head.
“We don’t have a choice, Babs. If we don’t do what he wants, he’ll kill our friends.”
Barbara spoke over the comlink, “Okay, whoever you are. You win. I’ll do what you want. Just let Nightwing go. Whatever score you want to settle with the Birds of Prey, he’s not involved!”
The man snorted.
“You must think I’m really stupid. I let Nightwing go and he’ll call all his little hero friends for backup. No, he’s a part of this as much as you are. If you didn’t want him involved, you shouldn’t have brought him here.”
Her mind whirled a mile a minute, trying to think of something, anything that could save Dick from having his identity exposed.
“It’s okay, Babs. This was bound to happen sooner or later, right? And at least we don’t have to hide anymore,” he leaned down to kiss her.
Dick pulled back, gently removed her hands from his arms and unclipped his utility belt, letting it fall to the floor. He hesitantly grabbed the sides of his domino mask before steeling himself and pealing it off of his face before dropping it.
“Good boy. Now it’s your turn, Babs. You mind if I call you Babs?”
“Call me whatever you want, but if you hurt my friends you’ll regret it,” she said flatly, her voice carrying none of the rage that churned within her chest like magma in a volcano.
“I’m sure I will,” the voice seemed amused now, as if he were laughing at a private joke. “Now strip.”
Barbara rolled her eyes and sighed. Dick gave her a commiserating look as she removed her utility belt and took off her own mask.
“Okay, now what?”
“Now you start walking. Both of you start moving in the direction you’re facing. Where the aisle you’re in ends, make a left and keep walking until you reach the wall, then make a right.”
“Is that where you’re keeping the others?” she said.
“You’ll see,” the young man said amusedly. "Don't forget to drop your communication devices."
There was a click on the other end of the comlink, as if the device had been shut off.
“Looks like we don’t have much of a choice,” Dick’s gray eyes were narrowed and angry. They left their comm units behind and began walking in the direction the man had specified.
Barbara felt angry, too. She’d been too confident in their numbers and experience. Someone who wasn’t afraid to get on the Birds of Prey’s bad side had obviously been prepared to deal with them if he’d been discovered. Whether the man was working alone or not was the real question, and she had to wonder how strong and skilled a single person would have to be to contend with them.
The League of Assassins could pull this off, but this isn’t their style. The guy who talked to us over the comms seemed nervous under that obnoxious laugh of his. Ra’s al Ghul’s servants all have fear beaten out of them long before they’re ever sent on any missions.
The more she thought about the strange young man who’d entrapped and defeated them, the more a single, dreaded word crossed her mind.
I think he might be a metahuman. How else could he have defeated the others so quickly Dinah wasn’t even able to get off one of her screams?
She and Dick rounded the final corner as her mind raced with possibilities.
What are his powers, if any? Some sort of stealth or speed ability? Technopathy? That might explain how he was able to breach the Clocktower's network.
They came upon a clearing ahead where pallets and shelves seemed to have been hastily moved to make space there. A single desk sat in the center. An opened white laptop stood atop it. The screen was lit.
Something drew her eyes to the floor.
Oh god, that’s them!
Green Arrow was the closest to her. The blond playboy was curled up against the floor. His mask was gone and his eyes were closed. Thankfully, he seemed to be breathing.
Her eyes flicked over to the other two figures. Dinah and Helena were similarly unmasked and ****.
No signs of injury I can see from here.
She took a step forward.
“That’s close enough.”
A man stepped into the other side of the opening. He was young, as his voice had suggested. He stood a little taller than her, but Dick was taller. He had dark brown hair and eyes whose color she found herself enable to describe. One moment they were brown, another hazel. Then blue. Her mind must have been playing tricks on her.
He looks eighteen or nineteen. Possibly twenty.
She suppressed a shiver as his eyes roved over her body.
“Who are you and what have you done to them?”
The boy crouched over Dinah’s body. He stroked her blonde hair, grinning at them as he did so. It took her every ounce of self-restraint not to launch herself at him.
“Oh, not much. They’re just knocked out, though that can change,” he stood up. “As for who I am, well, you can call me Master. Everyone else does.”
Dick snorted.
“Why do I doubt that?” he inched towards the boy subtly.
“Because you lack imagination,” the boy smirked. He took a step towards Dick, staring him in the eye. “Call me Master.”
“Master…” Dick replied blankly. It was as if all liveliness had drained from his voice.
Barbara whirled on her boyfriend in alarm. Dick’s gray eyes were glazed over and his face had slackened. The combat stance he’d taken had completely relaxed.
Mind-controller! Damn it, I wish I still had my batarangs!
She lunged at the boy, delighting in the momentarily surprised look on his face. Just before she reached him, something grabbed her. She felt a woman’s large, soft breasts mash against her back.
“Sorry Babs, can’t let you hurt the Master,” Helena said. When had she gotten up?
“Helena, what are you doing?!” she screamed, the carefully constructed calmness with which she did her job crumbling around her.
“What she’s supposed to,” another woman said. Dinah approached her, a sad smile on her face. She still wore her black leather costume that looked more like a stripper outfit than an actual costume. It hugged her voluptuous body like a second skin. She crossed her arms under her big tits, pushing them upward and causing them to stretch the top of her cleavage. “Don’t fight, Barbara. You’re really going to like what happens next, I promise.”
“No! Snap out of it, Dinah! He’s a mind-controller. He’s done something to you!” she struggled against Helena’s grip.
Dinah smiled kindly. She rested a comforting hand on her shoulder.
“I know, and that’s okay. There’s nothing wrong with a little mind control here and there to spice up your love life. Or life in general. Right, Ollie?”
Oliver Queen chuckled. The emerald archer had drawn his bow and was pointing what looked like one of his tranquilizer arrows in her direction.
“You bet, babe. Damn, I’m so glad you introduced me to our master. I’ve never felt this amazing in my life.”
Tears pricked at Barbara’s eyes.
T-they’re completely brainwashed. There’s no reaching them. How long has this been going on?
Rage and anguish churned within her chest. She heard the young man whispering commands to Dick, her boyfriend repeating him obediently.
She snapped.
Her elbow smashed into Helena’s face.
The woman swore, letting out a grunt of pain. Barbara launched a barrage of kicks and punches that sent her friend sprawling to the floor.
“Barbara!” Dinah yelled.
Something whistled through the air. She moved, just barely dodging Oliver’s tranquilizer arrow. It pinged metallically off of something further off in the warehouse.
She turned and ran.
I have to retrieve our comms. I have to warn Bruce. Everyone.
Barbara dodged another arrow. Retracing her steps, she turned left, entering another aisle of stacked pallets. She panted, as she ran faster than she ever had before, her footfalls echoing throughout the warehouse.
She stopped. Everything went quiet. No footsteps indicating a pursuer. Had she lost them?
She inched forward.
I could swear this is where we dropped everything. Where is it?
Her eyes scanned the floor, but the masks, gadgets, weapons, and communications equipment they’d dropped was nowhere to be found.
Something thudded heavily behind her.
She spun around, beholding someone she hadn’t expected to see.
“Hawkgirl?”
The Justice Leaguer-turned traitor-turned traitor again stood maskless, but with her wings, emerald eyes, and crimson hair there was no mistaking her.
Despite the woman’s reputation, Barbara allowed herself a glimmer of hope. Maybe Hawkgirl had been flying by and noticed the earlier commotion.
Her hopes were dashed when the Thanagarian lifted her sparkling Nth metal mace and smiled.
“Hello Barbara. It's nice to meet you. Now relax. It’ll all be over soon.”
The alien moved faster than she could see, grabbing her before launching into the air. Barbara struggled. She struck Hawkgirl in the face, but the Thanagarian barely seemed to notice her efforts. They touched down soon after. Well, Hawkgirl had touched down. Barbara crumpled to the floor.
Hawkgirl wrapped her arms around her, lifting her to her feet and holding her in place. They were back in the same clearing they were in earlier.
Dinah, Helena, and Green Arrow seemed to be in the middle of discussion when they’d arrived. They waved at Hawkgirl.
“Nice going, boss!” Helena said. The dark-haired woman sported a split lip from her earlier confrontation with Barbara, but looked no worse for wear.
The other two brainwashed heroes seemed similarly impressed.
God, this is so surreal.
“Argh. The mind-controller got you, too Hawkgirl?”
Hawkgirl chuckled evilly.
“My master did far more than that. He set me free in ways I never thought possible.”
She struggled in vain against Hawkgirl’s superior strength. The alien’s arms just wouldn’t budge.
“What do you mean by that?” she said. “What is he planning?”
“You’ll see right after he finishes with your boyfriend. Ah. There he is now.”
The young man stepped into her view, followed by Dick. Her boyfriend had a smile on his face and did nothing even when the mind-controller presented his back to him.
Her heart sank.
He’s probably completely under that guy’s thrall now.
“Hey Babs,” he said affectionately. “Sorry about all of this, but neither of us was thinking straight before we came here. We’re lucky the Master’s here to help us see the light.”
Barbara’s lips trembled.
“Dick. Please don’t let him do this to me. You can fight this. You’re stronger than he is.”
Her boyfriend’s eyebrows rose. He looked offended, of all things.
“I can’t believe you’d say something like that. Just… Master, would you please help her? I can’t stand seeing her badmouth you like this.”
The boy chuckled.
“You want me to mind-control her to be my obedient ****? She won’t be having sex with you anymore and she’ll be doing things for me that she’s never done for you. She’ll love me far, far more than she’s ever loved you. Are you sure that’s what you want?”
Barbara gasped.
Dick didn’t even hesitate to nod.
“More than anything. Master, please. I just want her to get better.”
“Aw. Dick, you’re such an amazing boyfriend. Barbara is so lucky to have you,” Dinah chimed in, smiling happily. She leaned forward slightly, exposing her plentiful cleavage.
“Thanks Dinah. That means a lot,” Dick said. He gazed at the young man, waiting for his decision.
“I guess I could. Shayera, make sure she doesn’t move.”
“Understood, Master,” said Hawkgirl. Her grip on Barbara tightened almost to the point of being painful.
“You won’t get away with this. One day, Batman and the Justice League will stop you. I'll make sure I'm there when they lock you in a deep dark hole forever.”
The boy grinned.
“You’ve got fire. I’m going to enjoy seeing you put that passion to use serving me.”
She glared at him. Their eyes met.
Barbara didn’t know how long she stood there in front of the mind-controller. His name was Jason Hall, apparently. It was a pretty name. She liked it. Just like she liked him. No, she loved him actually. Wait a minute, didn’t she love her boyfriend? Yeah, but not nearly as much as she loved Jason. Jason was so strong and masculine and perfect. She loved everything about him, even his powers.
Mind control was so sexy, especially when Jason did it. She hoped he used his powers on her. Oh, he was? Well, there was nothing wrong with that. She liked it. No, she loved it. She hoped he played around with her head, changing things to be just the way he wanted. He was so commanding. Masterly, almost. She supposed that was why everyone else called him Master, but she could call him Jason if she wanted. She didn’t know if she’d want to. Master just had this ring to it that she couldn’t get over. It made her want to spread her legs for him. To let him use her pussy however he wanted. She’d let him use her other holes, too. She wished he’d fuck her and cum inside her. She’d love the taste and feel of his cum sloshing inside her, filling up her empty spaces.
Barbara been a fool. She’d wasted so much time on her futile dream of making Gotham a safer place; time she should have spent serving her master, because that was what he was. Jason was her master and Barbara was his ****. She loved being his loyal **** who’d do anything for him. She’d cook and clean for him. Drive him anywhere he wanted to go. Protect him with her life. Batman and the Justice League would eventually find out about him. She had to delay that as long as possible and prepare for that eventuality. She had to bring more people over to his side. People like Kara and Bruce. Anyone powerful enough to protect her master would have to be brought under his control. Already scenarios were spinning in her mind.
Supergirl would be so easy to enthrall. I could just call her and she’d come flying. She'd look so good with Jason's cock down her throat.
Her master looked away from her.
Barbara blinked. Her mouth had drooped open and a dollop of saliva had accumulated along her lower lip. She licked it clean.
She realized then that Hawkgirl wasn’t restraining her anymore and had moved off to join the other slaves. They muttered amongst themselves, sending her occasional glances.
Dick stood next to her master. She tried to recall the love she’d felt for the man. It had developed over years of working together, saving each other’s lives. For some reason, though, she couldn’t. The sheer perfection of the man next to him was overpowering to her senses and she couldn’t help but dismiss Dick’s presence entirely.
“Hey…” she said uncertainly. She bit her lip. Butterflies danced in her belly. Damn, why was she so nervous around him?
“Hey Babs,” Jason, her master, said. He smirked at her. Her stomach did somersaults and her pussy tingled and clenched. She didn’t think she’d ever seen a more attractive man before. He was completely and utterly perfect. He approached her slowly, reaching a hand out to cup the side of her face.
She moaned throatily, nuzzling his perfect hand.
“Master…” she croaked. “Master, I’m so sorry about the way I behaved earlier. Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?”
His hand fell to her breasts. She was still costumed, but that didn’t stop him from squeezing them.
“I can think of a few things. Why don’t we start with a nice long blowjob and work our way from there?”
Barbara beamed at him.
“Gladly, Master.”
She fell to her knees and crawled toward him. She made sure to jut out her rear and grinned happily when she noticed her master stare longingly at her ass.
“Dick, go clean everything up. Wipe away any all evidence that we were here. Your girlfriend and I have a lot to catch up on.”
My master is so strong and commanding. No wonder Dick just lets him do whatever he wants to me.
Dick nodded.
“Will do, Master. Have fun, you two.”
He walked away.
Huh. A little bit ago, I’d have been pretty offended if Dick just left me to another man’s depredations like that. Now, I couldn’t care less.
She stopped when she was within reach of her master. She reached for his fly, her dexterous fingers unzipping it and fishing his cock out.
It’s beautiful.
Barbara stared at it for a long moment, almost entranced by the sight of it. She wanted her master’s cock like nothing else, but-
“Go ahead, Babs. Give me the best blowjob you can.”
She smiled up at him and nodded. She moved forward sealing her lips over her master’s cockhead. He gasped as he tongue licked the head, quickly finding the cockslit. She tasted something salty there, but ignored it.
A hand fell to her head, entwining with her hair.
Barbara moaned contentedly as she accepted inch after inch of Jason's cock into her mouth. She'd never felt happier in her entire life, more sure of her place in the world.
This was where she belonged.
