Chapter 37 by Sinburn Sinburn

What's next?

Lunch and a swim

“Joey, Sue, so lovely to see you, come on through,” said Helen as she opened the door.

As usual, Joey was the first to speak. “Look at you. What a sight to be greeted with. I'll come over every day if I get to see this.” He kissed Helen on the cheek, wrapping the one hand that wasn’t holding his bag around her waist.

He moved in and Sue came up and gave her a more formal peck on the cheek. “Don’t mind him dear, he’s always like that. He’s right though you do look ravishing.” She handed over a gift and went in. “I must say I am looking forward to a dip in the pool. I could never be bothered with one but when we have a run of hot days like these I get a little envious.”

“I mostly use it for exercise. I hadn’t really swum since childhood but I try to do some lengths a few times a week.”

“Well, it must be working for you. You have the most darling figure, I’m quite jealous.”

“Here here,” called Joey from the front room.

“You are very sweet,” said Helen. “It’s mostly just watching what I eat. I don’t see why you should be envious though. Your figure is lovely.” She wasn’t just being polite. Sue was wearing a one-piece swimsuit and sarong. The swimsuit had cut out sections so it almost looked like straps wrapped around her. Sue was tall and had wide shoulders for a woman but it was balanced by her large natural bust that was being beautifully displayed in the swimsuit with the bottom of her breasts slightly exposed by the design. She had well-toned thighs and her stomach was muscular but with enough fat to soften out the appearance. She had an hourglass figure. Her auburn hair was swept over one shoulder. She was intimidating but very beautiful.

“Here here,” Joey called again

“Thank you dear. I have to work quite hard at it. I keep up with my dancing and working out helps me unwind after work.”

They went straight out to the back of the house to find Joey checking the temperature of the water. He was in a pair of long shorts and flip flops with a summer short-sleeved shirt that showed off his muscular arms. “I can’t wait for a swim. Do we have time or is dinner ready?”

“You can eat first. We worked hard on this,” said Mike joining them in his shorts and T-shirt.

The party got underway with lunch. Everyone was drinking wine with the exception of Helen who stuck to her canned cocktails. As everyone relaxed and got a little merry the conversation flowed. Helen and Mike were surprised at Sue. As she relaxed she opened up and she lost a little of her formality and told stories of her early relationship with Joey and the trouble he got her into at parties.

Helen kept catching Joey checking her out. She was a little uncomfortable at first but after a couple of drinks, she didn’t mind so much. She totally busted him staring at her chest. She dipped her head into his eye line and he gave her a cheeky smile and a wink. She rolled her eyes but she was smiling.

After lunch, they were going to relax but Joey wanted to swim so he whipped his shirt and shorts off. He had a snug pair of swimming shorts underneath. It was Helen’s turn to stare. The man was muscle and no fat and to see him in such revealing trunks was quite the sight. He ran over to the pool and dove straight in. He emerged from under the water about halfway down the pool and started doing a hard front crawl.

“He’s very fit isn’t he?” said Helen in a slightly dreamy way.

Mike saw Sue glance at Helen and a small smile crept onto her face. “Yes, he is,” Sue said. “He’s a big kid, can’t sit down for too long or he gets bored. He eats like a horse but burns it all off. It does make him rather pleasing to look at in his trunks.”

“Mmm,” Helen said by way of agreement. Mike noticed that Helen seemed quite taken by what she had just seen and when he looked at Sue, she was smiling at Helen’s reaction.

“Hey!” called Joey. “Is nobody going to play with me?”

Sue laughed, “See what I mean? I’m too full darling, I’ll join you in a bit,” she called back.

“I’d like a swim,” said Helen. “Are you going to come?” she asked Mike.

Mike had been hoping that an opportunity for Helen and Joey to spend time together would spring up and he wasn’t about to disturb it by joining them. “You go my love. I’ll keep Sue company.”

“Oh, okay then,” said Helen. She stood up and was about to take off her cover-up when a thought struck her. “Would you take a picture of my outfit for me?” She passed Mike her phone.

“Alright,” he said. He was a bit surprised. She had been shy about putting it on and now she wanted a picture of herself in it? He did as she asked and she looked at it.

“This is no good, I’m all in shadow. Try again.”

“Let me dear,” said Sue, holding out her hand. She directed Helen where to stand and suggested a pose. She took a few pictures and handed Helen back her phone.

“Wow, these are really good,” said Helen.

Sue waved away the compliment, “You pick up a thing or two when you work in the media. How about a shot in just the bikini?”

Mike was internally cheering on Sue. Helen looked unsure but grasped some courage. “Sure, why not,” she said.

Sue took the phone as Helen slipped the cover-up over her head. Mike got stiff as he watched her expose her skin in front of others. Sue did the same again and despite Helen looking tense at first she managed to get Helen relaxed enough to take a good picture.

Helen dashed over to the pool where Joey was leaning against the side where he had been watching Helen’s modelling. He reached up as if to get Helen to pull him out and he pulled her in instead. Helen screamed as she went in and a splash fight broke out in the pool.

Mike looked over at Sue again. He found her reactions curious. Even now, watching her husband play very flirtatiously with another woman she seemed almost content. Sue caught him staring and asked “What?”

“I find you fascinating.”

Sue laughed “I’ve heard worse come-ons but not many.”

“Sorry, that isn’t what I meant. I mean, you are very attractive but I wasn’t,” said Mike in a fluster.

“Yes yes, I get it. What’s so fascinating then?”

“I don’t mean this to sound sexist, but most women would be more jealous, especially with someone as flirtatious as Joey.”

“No, it’s not sexist, it’s true. I know what he’s like with other women. Maybe I am a little jealous but I can’t ask him to change. That is the man I fell in love with and for some reason he fell in love with me. If I got jealous and tried to stop him I’d be betraying something that made me fall for him in the first place. He’s so handsome,” she sighed. “And so damnably charming. It seems a crime to cage him up. I like to see him running free.”

“That’s very poetic,” said Mike,

“It’s the wine talking. Anyway, what about you?”

“What about me?”

“It’s your wife he’s flirting with, yet you seem as calm as I am.”

Mike watched as Joey chased Helen around the pool before catching her, pulling her towards him, picking her up and dumping her in the water before jumping in after with Helen squealing and laughing all the while. “She was so closed in. All the years we were together I could feel that she was someone else trapped inside the body of a self-hating prude. Seeing her like that feels like the woman she’s supposed to be. She’s out of my league now but that’s what she should be.”

Sue raised her eyebrows, “Now who’s getting poetic?” she said. She laughed to herself “To quote the old villain trope ‘We are not so different, you and I’,” she said in a villainous voice.
