Helen came into the office while Mike was working on his investments. “I’ve been chatting with Sofia. She’s invited me over for a couple of nights. She wants to take me shopping.”

Mike could tell she wanted to go. “Do it. Hang out with Sofia and have fun.”

“Even better. A proper girls trip. What’s the plan?”

“We were going to stay at Sofia and Will’s. Their apartment is in the city so it would be easier to hit the shops early. The plan was to head over Friday night and stay over Saturday night as well.”

Mike chuckled and sucked the air through his teeth. “Not sure. It’s been a slow morning on the stocks.” His darling wife looked resolute to a modest amount. “I only made twenty thousand this morning so try to keep it less than that.”

Helen looked at him in shock. “What, really?”

“Darling. Nothing makes money like money. Between the inheritance and living like paupers for years I turned our money into quite the income. Maybe don’t spend that sum every day but on a new wardrobe after nine years? Don’t feel like you have to hold back.”

They went over some of the places they would visit. Maisy was getting very excited by the names but they meant nothing to Helen. “And then an early dinner. After that, who knows? We can see how we feel” Sofia wrapped up. It was all very exciting but it was getting late and they decided to call it a night. “I’m sorry you two have to share a bed but we don’t have people over to stay often so we only have one spare room. Unless one of you would like the sofa?” Sofia offered.

They both agreed that two girls together was fine. “It’s like a sleepover,” declared Maisy.

“Don’t say that,” said Sofia. “You will make me jealous I’m not in there with you. I think three of us in the bed might be a little too cosy.” She looked at Will who’s ears seemed to have pricked up like an excited puppy. “Poor Will is getting all excited by that thought. Good night my darlings. See you in the morning.” With that she swept will off to their bedroom, leaving Maisy and Helen to go to bed.

Helen had changed in the ensuite into her nightgown but Maisy had just thrown her clothes off in front of Helen.
