Introduction
Raven peeled open her eyes and sighed a painfully depressed sigh. Any other day she would have been glad to awaken from the nightmare morning had just washed clean from her minds eye but not this day and most likely never again. In this cold, dark cell no nightmare could be worse then the reality of enslavement and betrayal.
She was about to close her eyes and will herself back to sleep when her nose began to twitch from a surprisingly familiar smell. As she rolled over to investigate she nearly knocked over a rare gesture of kindness from Ssakcik: a silver tray holding a plate with a single piece of toast covered in strawberry jam and a large cup of peppermint herbal tea.
Raven, practically starving from her long ordeal, made short work of the toast. Still painfully hungry Raven extended great willpower to allow herself to calmly sip the soothing tea Ssakcik had left her rather then simply downing the searing hot liquid in one painful gulp.
As she attempted to calm and collect herself Raven realized that along with the tea and the toast Ssakcik had left a note.
“To my precious little Raven: Please enjoy your breakfast as I have far more pressing matters to attend to right now then to enjoy training you. Don’t worry though, I should be able to spare some time for you once I am done. I can’t say for certain but it hopefully shouldn’t take me much more then 12 or 13 hours.”
’12 hours!’ Raven thought to herself, ‘Not that I really want to see that jerk ever again but 12 hours here alone in this empty room is a long time to meditate. Besides, Ssakcik said I’d get a chance to earn a bed and how am I suppose to earn a bed if he’s not even here!’
Raven suddenly felt sick to her stomach as she realized the thought that had just run through her head. For one second she had wanted to prove her loyalty to Ssakcik and even if it was in exchange for a bed she knew he was starting to get to her.
