Chapter 20 by laverinthe laverinthe

Wanna do something?

Hit up the shopping district

Hinako suggests going out shopping to get you some new clothes. The stuff you brought with you were too American according to her and the shopping district was just a 15 minute walk away. You agree and head out together for a night on the town. You walk together with her arm hooked through yours in comfortable silence. The town Hinako lives in is a little small but it has a booming tourist market. The shopping district is a long line of stores and they’re pretty packed today. Hinako takes you to her favorite clothes shop and immediately starts picking stuff out for you. You’re not that into fashion so you let her take over. She passes you her selections and pushes you into the changing room.

You emerge later dressed in her first combo; some tight jeans with tears already in the knees and a leather jacket with frills along the sleeves. It doesn’t suit your stature at all and when you step out, Hinako bursts out laughing. You can’t make out what she’s saying through all that laughter, something about an anemic biker. After she settles down she sends you back only to laugh even harder when you come back out in the second outfit. You’re in a pair of vertical striped shorts and a Hawaiian looking shirt. You’re beginning to think she’s messing with you. She swears that the next outfit she picked out is serious. It’s a black pea coat with the collar turned up and some form fitting, dark jeans that Hinako says shows off your package nicely. You like it, it feels right. Hinako agrees and says it’s her turn to try some stuff on. You wait outside as she closes the curtain behind her. After a minute, she doesn’t come out. Then you hear her say, “John chan? I need some help with this zipper.” You smirk, kind of expecting something like this. You crack open the curtain an inch and she pulls you in.

She’s in fishnet stockings, black lace panties and a black corset with red trim that shows off her cleavage very nicely. Her arms are draped over your shoulders and her leg is pressing up between yours. “Sorry, I got it after all, but since you’re here maybe you can help me with the rest,” she reaches up and kisses you, then slides her way down your body making you hard in record time. She starts to undo your fly, but stops and looks towards the curtain with a concerned look. “Do you hear that?” she asks. You look up from what she’s doing and listen for what she’s talking about. You can’t hear anything at all. You tell her as much and she turns to you, “my point exactly.” She’s right, there’s nothing. A second ago you could hear customers hustling and bustling, but now nothing. That’s when it hits you.

It’s the ringing again, and it’s worse than ever. Your head feels like it’s splitting open. Your head starts spinning and you have trouble standing upright. You lean against the wall. “John chan, are you alright?” You’re not sure, but you don’t want to worry Hinako, “I’m fine, just don’t feel too good. Maybe we should just call it a day and head back.” You zip up and leave the room before she can protest.

You look around the store and what you see is a little eerie. The store is empty. Even the register is abandoned. What’s more, it’s dark outside now. You came here around noon, there should still be a couple hours to go before sundown. Hinako walks up to you looking around as she does. “Where is everyone?” she asks. “No idea. Maybe they wanted to give us some privacy?” you joke to try and calm her nerves, and your own while you’re at it. It didn’t work. She grabs your hand and you exchange a nervous look. “Let’s just get out of here,” you say and head for the door with her trailing behind. Once you’re outside, it gets creepier. The once busy streets and walkways are now desolate. It’s dark out but none of the streetlights are on. You’re not sure how you can see anything since the sky is pitch black without a single star in the sky, even the moon is gone. There seems to be no discernable light source, but you can see just fine. Your intuition tells you that it’s not your eyes that you’re seeing with. At least not your own eyes. “That makes no sense,” you say out loud. “You’re telling me,” Hinako agrees. You both decide to head home. After a few minutes you reach Hinako’s neighborhood and are stopped by a dead end. The road just ends, literally. At a certain point, everything is cut off by a wall of black. On the other side of the road, there’s a house that stands at the “border.” Half of it is cut off by the wall of black. You see a baseball bat lying on the front lawn. You walk over and pick it up. This darkness is familiar. It’s like a physical being with things moving within it.

Like the darkness surrounding the Velvet. . .

It seems your dream world is starting to cross over into the real world. Your grip tightens around Hinako’s hand, partly from nerves, but mostly because the piercing ring gets worse the closer you get to the wall. You want to turn and leave, but again your intuition speaks up. It tells you that you must proceed. Besides, if you went in the opposite direction, you somehow know you would just run into similar walls. You’re in a bubble of darkness surrounded by denser darkness. “Wait here Hinako,” you tell her. Then you begin to walk towards the wall. “Be careful,” she warns, as you’re now within arms reach of the wall. You reach out and place your hand against the wall and it easily passes through. You were expecting something a little more solid. As soon as your hand enters the void, you knew you made a mistake. The darkness begins crawling up your arm and pulls you further in. The suction isn’t strong enough to hold you though and you manage to pull free, but it continues to crawl further up your arm until your whole arm up to the shoulder is black as the void. It doesn’t stop there and continues to crawl up and spread along your torso in all directions. It’s cold, cold as ****. It feels wrong in every way the power you got sleeping with Hinako felt right. It rises up further and it covers your face, and when that happens, things get a hundred times worse. The ringing intensifies and changes, turning into a mass of voices, all screaming into your ears at once. It’s a horrible discord and it’s more than you can stand. You grab you head in pain and stagger back from the wall. You fall to your knees, darkness now covering most of your body. You’re vaguely aware of Hinako screaming your name. You’d like to join her but you can’t find your voice. You’re completely enveloped now. You’re not sure how much more of this you can take. The cold is permeating deeper into your being and you feel yourself slipping away. The discord takes on a victorious note as it begins to overpower you. . .

How the hell do you fight this?
