Chapter 16 by laverinthe laverinthe

How do you break the silence?

Just talk, jeez

You try to make small talk. “How’s the weather today?” She continues washing your chest, “it should be warm for the rest of the week. It’ll be nice until school starts next week.”

“Looking forward to class?” you ask. She moves down to your stomach, “I look forward to the one we’ll be sharing.” You smile at the sincerity in her voice and your own dorkiness. This is the most intimate you’ve ever been with someone and all you can think to talk about is the weather. You try for something a little more personal: “what’s with the hair and clothes change?” Her hand stops a moment, “I asked your sister, she said you like girls who dress like that. Do you disapprove?”

“What I think shouldn’t matter,” you say. You’re dodging the question. You honestly don’t like the punk rock look but you’re not about to hurt Hinako’s feelings.

She abandons the rag and hugs you tightly from behind, “it does matter. I love you John chan, I always have. Ever since that day.”

“You don’t owe me anything Hinako, I would’ve done that for anyone,” you reply. She hugs you tighter and she starts tearing up, “you didn’t do it for anyone, you did it for me. I owe you my life.” You think back on that fateful day. . .

What day?
