Invitation

You're in class, waiting for the teacher to arrive, thinking about the weekend closing in. This week was as tiring as the last one and you're happy to get some rest soon. Jeremy starts talking to you unexpectedly.

"Hey John, you going to the chrismast night? It's at my house and lots of people are invited, of course your girls too!" He winks at you, you didn't know about this Christmas night.

"When are you doing it?" You ask, still not sure of your answer yet.

"It's next Thursday, you know the 24th?"

"Oh alright sure." You start sulking, you forgot that you had to go to school during Christmas. That's fucked up. Why are they doing this? Do they like torturing their students?

"Cool, see you there!" Guess I have something to do Thursday night...

You're in English class with miss Gonzalez, she looks like she's in a particularly good mood today, and the lesson is interesting and well explained. Soon it's mealtime and you go sit in the cafeteria.

It doesn't take long for Penny and Ashley to join you, and you wait expectantly for Jessica. It seems she still won't come today... As you start eating, however, you recognize her from afar, she's walking slowly, and she looks quite tired, she might have had an all-nighter yesterday.

"Hey Jessica! How are you?" You try to act as if nothing ever happened.

"Fine, fine... I was busy yesterday..." She yawns loudly and you can't stop yourself from yawning, which makes Penny yawn too. You hear Ashley giggle.

"Jessica, I'm sorry for what I've done." She says while trying to stay composed, however, you can feel the apology is half-hearted.

"That's fine Ashley, I don't mind... As long as you don't do it again." Ashley looks like she wants to respond but she restrains herself. Maybe she wouldn't have if you weren't there.

The tension quickly comes down, as Ashley can't stay put, she turns to me and Penny:

"Tell me! Tell me how was yesterday's date?" You can almost feel Jessica's interest in the conversation as she intervenes.

"Really? Where did you go?"

"W-we were at an amusement park..." Penny answers shyly and clearly blushing.

"Tell me everything! What happened?" Ashley asks, and you can't help but feel embarrassed as she questions Penny when you're right here, Jessica got quiet, listening and nodding along from time to time. You're wondering how much your power affects this situation, does Jessica find your relationship weird, or is reality simply rewritten so everyone thinks it's kind of normal?

Before leaving, you think of asking the girls if they want to come to the Christmas party, without much surprise they both agreed and even choose to meet this Saturday to buy some cute clothes. Unfortunately for you, you're coming with them. You sigh, no rest this weekend either it seems.
