You shake you boss' hand as he hands you the award for best attendance. "Thank you sir."

You boss nods, "No problem John. You've done a fine job in the last three years for the company. That's why I've been thinking of promoting you to supervisor. What do you think?"

You blink speechless, "It...I would be honored...but what about Davudson? He's been here longer and..."

Your boss shakes his head, "He doesn't want to be in charge of anyone. He's more comfortable in doing the work than in telling other people to do the work. I can see how it would be easier."

This is welcome news if true. You don't want any animosity from the start. And "Passed Over" animosity can be the worst kind. " I accept, sir!" you say excitedly.

Then let's go on out to have a couple brews." Your boss says, in a tone that says he wasn't taking a no for an answer.

"Right, I'll just get my coat and laptop..."

"Coat, yes. Leave the laptop here. I intend to get you shitfaced tonight as a welcoming to your new position. It's Friday night, and I don't want to hear about you coming in tomorrow. I'll have it delivered to your apartment."

You look at your boss for a second, wondering how you could politically refuse this offer. Your plan had been to get a head start on the Zimmerman account and have that finished up by Monday afternoon. You nod at your boss, "Alright sir." you say, figuring your plan would just take a bit longer. Instead of Monday afternoon, it would be Tuesday afternoon. No biggie.
