Unexpected stop

"Alexa. Alexa." Carol repeated, trying to get the attention of Alexa as she sat in her booster seat, listening to the cartoon on the screen and thinking. Diana shut it off, causing Alexa to look up at the two women far in the front.

"Huh, what's up?" Alexa asked, confused.

"We're stopping at a really nice lakeside park. Do you need to get back right away for work?" Carol asked.

"No, I'm good. Thanks for asking." Alexa said, shooting her a cute toothy grin. Her sundress had ridden up, much like any outfit did in the carseat, and sitting next to Joan, she looked like she was in the right spot.

The park was beautiful, especially with the sun directly overhead and not inhibited by any clouds. Once they were all out of the car, Diana began talking to her children, taking them on a potty break, while Alexa and Carol headed out onto a park bench. A strong gust of wind brought Alexa's skirt up an inch or so, and she rushed to hold it down with her hands. Carol produced some sunscreen, and after putting some on her face and arms, she began rubbing it into Alexa without so much of a word; lost in thought, Alexa let her go to town.

They explored throughout the park, and Alexa hopped up onto a rock, handing Carol her phone.

"Take a photo of me for Devon!" Alexa said, smiling and making silly poses onto the overhang. After a few minutes, they stopped, and later, they came across an even more beautiful overhang. Alexa did the same poses, making silly faces. A strong gust of wind completely flipped her sundress upwards, exposing her underwear to the world. Carol continued snapping photos, not realizing what had happened until she focused on the photos themselves, and not just egging Alexa on. While Alexa focused on keeping the sundress down, Joan and her brother fought over a beetle they had found, with her older brother holding it above her head.

"Gimme it back!" Her voice whined, followed by taunting. Too late for either Diana or Carol to notice, he began to back up, hopping onto Alexa's rock. A dash from Joan prompted him to jump back, and a cry from Diana.

"Watch out!" Alexa heard the words, and felt something hit her directly in the stomach. Her balance was lost, and she wobbled backwards, falling over the overhang. Diana and Carol watched in horror as they tumbled down the rock incline, landing head first into a pile of mud.
