Buy a phone

“So Wendy, what kind of phone do you want?”

“Oh I don’t really know the brands” looking slightly embarrassed.

“Not even the big ones? Wow you are working way too hard. I’ll just get you an iPhone sound good?”

“That’s fine John thank you”

One of the closest stores to the entrance, we step in and I grab the 6s+. Should be good enough and won’t break as easily as the newer ones.

“We’ll get a SIM card and the phone plan tomorrow I know a guy who can give us a discount. Also go pick out a case while I pay for the phone.”

She nods and walks off to grab a case. She returns with a tankard lilac one that’s the same colour as her dress. Huh guess she really likes lilac that’s good to know

I pay and we exit the store. “So you want to go get some new clothes? I think we should update your wardrobe. You don’t really have a lot of stuff in there.”

She blushes a little “I don’t really have a lot of money to buy clothes so I guess that sounds fun.”

Bringing her to a row of clothing stores my thoughts start to wander. I guess the outfits could be a gift? But I really want it to be personal. Wait a necklace! That actually sounds like a good idea.

“So which store first?”

She looks around and leads me to one that specializes in women’s clothing I couldn’t see the name.

As she browses the clothes I pick out a few that I thought would look nice on Wendy a few blouse skirt combinations, some dresses, and some casual shirts and shorts. "Go try these out I need to make a few phone calls"

She nods and goes to try them out. Making sure that Wendy is going to be in there for some time, I call the local bakery for a normal chocolate cake just something that I think that they would have. Luckily they do so I order one with a simple Happy sweet 18 Wendy! written in icing on the cake. Well that's one thing worked out. now I just need a good necklace maybe google has some suggestions? Let's see, oh this one's nice, an engraved silver heart necklace with our first name's on them and a date, I think today would be the perfect date for the first time we went out.

“John? How do I look?” Wendy’s voice appears behind me causing me to almost drop my phone

“Oh you startl-” I pause for a moment as Wendy shows off a blouse and skirt combination “wow Wendy, you’re beautiful” stunned not knowing how well sh pulls it off

“Thanks, John” smiling and blushing a little “I have a few that I like so I’ll just change back and than I’ll see which ones I can afford”

Oh wait she didn’t know that I was paying for them? Well that’s going to be a nice little surprise. I wait for a little while longer asking dad about the reservations for the bistro and tell him about how it’s Wendy’s birthday and the present and cake texting him instead of calling because I don’t want to spoil the surprise. He tells me that this is a great idea and gives some advice before I can respond, I see Wendy come out with a defeated look on her face

“What’s wrong? Where are the outfits you wanted”

“I forgot my wallet and I saw the prices on them it was too expensive” she frowns.

She looks so defeated, it breaks my heart seeing her so upset “Oh didn’t I tell you? I’m buying everything for you today!” I try to sound upbeat

she instantly lights up and hugs me “really? John thank you so much! But only one outfit”

“What why? You like them don’t you? And they look good on you.” I tease to her

She smiles softly “I don’t want you to spend too much money on me”

“Nonsense! I’ll get buy them for you come on go grab them”

“I’m not going to convince you am I?” She smiles

“Nope!” As we walk to the cashier, I say “here’s my card, go explore a little the pin is **** and meet me by the entrance after this, I need to go buy something else and I don’t want to waste your time “

She reluctantly takes it but says “I’ll come with you! I didn’t want to buy anything, I just wanted to spend time with you.”

No damn it, this is going to ruin the surprise

“No I need to do it myself, it’s a surprise please? Just have some fun and look around.” I look at her with pleading eyes “but after we do something really quickly”

“Do what?” She giggles as I pay and we walk outside. I lead her to a photo booth her hand in mine.

“I wanted to get a few photos with you” I smile

She smiles “that’s a great idea! Let’s do it.” Perfect all according to plan

After we take a few photos I grab them and I tell her to go have some fun as I head off to the Jewelry store.

She giggles and jokingly pouts “fine I guess I’ll go explore John but remember at 10:30 meet me at the entrance!”

“I’ll carry the bag for you. See you in half an hour!”

She basically skips off looking ecstatic going shopping for the first time.
