Dad & Son have a Beer

Jason didn’t bring much with him, he didn’t intend to spend the night, so he just follows his dad inside. “Come to the kitchen. Let’s have a beer to celebrate, eh?” His dad offers. It’s after 6 already, so not too early in the day for an adult drink. “But I’m not 21 yet” Jason replies, despite that he had drank plenty in his day.

His dad waves his hand dismissively, “Ah who cares. Neither of us are gonna call the cops, right?” Jason shrugs, and his dad cracks open two amber ales, handing the bottle to Jason.

The two go sit in the living room and begin to chat about life, school, work, and so on. After a little bit, they start reminiscing on when Jason was younger (and the parents were still together). “Remember when we would wrestle?” Jason brings up. “Oh yeah, that was some good fun.” His dad replies. “You never let me win a single time, you jerk.” His dad laughs, now on his third beer, while Jason had only finished his first a minute ago.

“Of course not! What kind of good role model would let you think that people are just gonna ‘let you win’, eh? You had to earn it.” “I was also half your size” Jason says with an eye roll and a smirk. “Well life is not fair, is it?” Dad says snidely. “You were real big on the whole ‘not fair’ part of it all for sure.” Dad laughs, “What’s the fun in fighting fair?”

Jason shrugs, “Ya know, I bet I could beat you now.” Dad leans forward in his seat, “Oh really?” Jason nods, “I’ve gotten bigger and stronger too. Plus I’ve taken a few wrestling classes.” His dad looks at him. Jason is not the most physically intimidating guy. Kinda skinny, average height, not much in the way of muscles. Whereas dad took pretty good care of himself, keeping strong, and naturally tall.

Dad stands up from his chair, “Well why don’t we have a match then, my son? If you’re so confident.” Jason stands up “Yeah let’s do it”
