Chapter 5 by jaynedixon jaynedixon

How long did Jayne stay at the bar?

She stayed there most of the night

Jayne had never been to this bar before, so unlike others that she went to so often that she knew all of the bar staff by name, here she didn't know anyone; as the night went on the drinks flowed; she ordered more drinks for herself and when it got quieter even the bartender poured shots for them. She spent the next few hours drinking and chatting with her new friend, when she finished her latest drink Jayne decided it was time for her to leave, by which time she was feeling the drinks and felt drunk.

"Ready for another, darlin'?" He asked.

"No thanks, I should go." Jayne said.

"The night is young, sugar." He added.

"No, No. Darlin' or sugar? I do have a name, you know." She teased him.

"Don't tell me. I'll just call you Coco." He laughed.

"I guess I've been called worse. I'll just call you Tex." Jayne replied.

Jayne was about to ask for the check when the bartender brought over a fresh drink.

"Not me." Tex said as Jayne looked at him.

"From the guy at the table." The bartender interrupted.

Jayne turned and saw him sat at one of the tables, he waved as she looked at him and she held her drink up and sipped on it to thank him, but then turned back.

"Someone is popular tonight." Tex teased.

"I'm not sure about that." Jayne laughed as she took another sip.

"Are you staying at the hotel here?" Tex asked.

The more he drank, the stronger his accent became Jayne thought, and she was getting drunk and more charmed by him by the second.

"I don't mean to be creepy by asking that. I just want to be sure you don't have to drive anywhere." He continued.

"I am not staying here. I just came here tonight for a drink." Jayne answered.

"Oh. You just come to a hotel bar, looking for all the guys traveling on their own?" He asked.

"No, just happen to like this bar. I go to regular bars also." Jayne replied.

"Can I buy you another?" Tex asked when Jayne finished her drink.

"No thank you, I'm going to head home." Jayne said as she reached for her bag.

"OK, well these drinks are on me so don't worry about that." Tex said as Jayne pulled out her purse.

"Thank you." Jayne replied.

She looked at him for a few seconds before allowing him to pay for her drinks and putting her purse back in her bag.

"I hope you enjoy your stay in the city." She added.

"Thank you. Have a good night." Tex replied.

Jayne smiled at him as she slipped off her seat and waved at the bartender before turning and walking towards the exit; the same blonde-haired girl was still stood behind the desk next to the door and she smiled as Jayne walked past her.

"Goodnight." The hostess said to Jayne.

"Night." Jayne replied as she walked out of the bar.

What does Jayne do?
