Storm on the horizon
So it would seem
You kept looking up at the cloud, watching it as it inched closer and closer to where you are, you look around the area to see if you can identify any landmarks, nothing, just more trees and grass.
"Have we passed the wayshrine yet?" You ask.
"I don't really know, I've not been looking around." Nacius replies.
You scan the area, hoping to see the wayshrine or even a bit of Skingrad, but again, nothing. You turn your attention back to the dark cloud getting closer, you began to smell rain, the sun was still bright as can be in the sky, but the cloud was moments away from eclipsing it.
"Oh ho, the cloud is almost right on top of us! You sure the rain won't soak through the saddle bags?" You ask Nacius.
"Yep, they do a decent job of keeping water out, if they didn't I wouldn't leave documents and food in them while I'm out and about." He responds.
Nacius looks up at the cloud and lets out a sigh.
"Welp, any minute now were gonna get some rain." He says.
"It'll be fine, annoying, yes, but we're going to take a bath anyways, remember?" You say.
Nacius perks up.
"I'm going to be honest, I completely forgot about that." He says.
You give him a light jab in the side.
"Forgot! Sanna had brought it up only a moment ago? You sure you don't have brain rot love?" You ask, sarcastically.
Nacius pretends to look confused and turns to you.
"Who are you again?" He asks, trying not to smile.
"Bah! Stop it, just get us home!" You say, chuckling.
Nacius laughs and turns back around, making Whiterun speed up just a little more.
You felt something cold on your arm, you look down and notice a small wet spot, it was starting. You look right up at the cloud, it was now right on the edge of the sun above you, you felt a few more drops land on you, Nacius took notice too, holding his hand out for a moment and looking up at the cloud.
"Here she comes..." He says.
"Oh hush, you know how much rain Sanna saw in Orcrest?" You say.
"Not much I take it?" He replies.
"Sanna can only remember three times it rained in Orcrest, three! And those three days, children were out playing in the streets, catching water in urns, just having a good time in general! Why are you so "eeeehhhh" when it comes to the rain?" You ask.
Nacius turns to you.
"Mud" He says.
He turns back around.
"While patrolling, mud can make things so damn annoying, or just unsafe, luckily most of the weald is fine, but there are some spots where it's unbearable." He says, pointing to the footpath.
"Sanna understands, she has never experienced any sort of mud on a massive scale before." You say.
"Just you wait, if it starts raining bad before we get off this footpath, you'll get to see for yourself." Nacius tells you.
The cloud was just now eclipsing the sun, the rain was still just the occasional few drops, but it was getting faster as the wind began to pick up.
"Might want to hang on a bit, this wind is kicking!" Nacius says.
He wasn't lying, the sound of the trees blowing went from being a soft, gentle sound, to being a big, imposing, loud sound, completely drowning out the chirps of the birds.
"Moons, this is like a sandstorm!" You say.
"Judging by how big this cloud is and where it's blowing in from, my guess is that this storm came from somewhere in the Abecean, I don't see an end to it." Nacius says.
You look up to the cloud and he wasn't wrong, the cloud went on and on and on, hard to believe that it was just a distant grey blob a while ago. Nacius tapped you to get your attention and pointed off to your right.
"Wayshrines there, we ain't too far off now." He says.
At least you knew you where somewhat close to the main road again, you kept your eyes peeled for Skingrad, although the trees constantly swaying around was obscuring your vision somewhat. The rain began to come down now, no longer a few drops here and there, it was just a light drizzle as of now, but you knew soon enough it would start pouring.
"How long until the mud gets bad?" You ask.
"Wont be long, we should be out or at least be pretty close to being out of here before the mud starts hindering things." He replies.
You look down at the ground, most of the dirt was still dry, for now at least. You faced your head towards the sky, letting the rain hit your face, it felt nice, it was something you weren't used to feeling, being from Orcrest and all, you knew rain was common in Pelletine, the lucky bastards.
"If you don't like rain, perhaps we should skip out on visiting Pelletine." You say.
"Why, is it rainy there?" He asks.
"Heh, very, its made of jungles and rainforests, of course it's going to be rainy." You respond.
"Well, as long as we don't run into any mud, shouldn't be a problem." He says.
"Sanna doesn't plan on going very far from Senchal, she hears the wilderness of Pelletine is something to be weary of." You say.
"Sounds like a plan! Well, when we get to it of course." Nacius replies.
It was raining properly now, you looked off and saw Skingrad just in the distance, you were closer than you thought, you looked down to the ground and saw this dreaded mud that Nacius was talking about begin to form.
"Sanna figures that this is the mud you were talking about, no?" You ask.
Nacius looks down.
"That's mud, but it's not the terrible mud, least not yet. You'll know when the mud becomes unbearable, let's hope were out of here before it gets like that." He replies.
"Well Sanna can just make out Skingrad off in the distance." You say.
"Well that's a relief, closer than I thought." He says, sounding somewhat relieved.
"Don't let the rain and the mud sour your day, love, we had fun, and plus, the day isn't over yet..." You say.
"Oh trust me, the rain isn't gonna sour anything, just a minor hiccup, I'm looking forward to that bath..." Nacius turns around and gives you a look.
"If you uhhh, catch my meaning?" He says with an awkward wink.
It took you a moment before it clicked with you, and a devilish smile creeped up your face.
"Oh! Really Nacius? Our little morning fun didn't tucker you out? Sanna is surprised..." You say, still grinning.
"If you don't want to thats fine with me." Nacius says, reassuringly.
"Oh no no, Sanna is up to this, she is just pleasantly surprised is all, usually all it takes is one round and you're beaten for the rest of the day, especially now after our little run in with mister skeleton back there." You say.
"You did all the work with that skeleton love, I just distracted it while you clubbed the bastard!" Nacius says.
You think of something to say for a moment before a funny thought pops into your head.
"Perhaps that was not a mister skeleton, maybe it was a missus skeleton and she was just enthralled by your stunning good looks, you think?" You say in a teasing tone.
"Here we go with the flattery, I can't think straight with the weather, you're at the advantage here!" He says, laughing.
"Oh sure, blame the weather, Sanna knows you're trying to take glances at her while her clothes are wet!" You joke.
"Am not!" Nacius says.
"Sure you aren't... and Sanna is heir to the ruby throne!" You reply.
"Why look and take glances now, when I can actually touch and feel later?" He says.
"Come on Nacius, Sanna knows you can do better!" You mock.
"Rain, trying to follow this increasingly muddier and muddier footpath, sorry if my flattery skills aren't up to code today love." He says, jokingly.
"It's okay, let's save it for when we get back home yes? And uh, the mud is starting to appear... muddier." You say.
"Could be worse, which it will probably be soon enough here." Nacius replies.
Do you make it back to the road before the mud gets worse?
