Landed

The girls waited for the plane to land as they giggled and talked about various random topics. When the seatbelt sign turned off, the two stood up, grabbing their carry ons and making their way off the plane, diapers wet. They headed for the bathroom next to the terminal and walked into the family bathroom together. “So… my aunt has a rule that anyone who wets the bed… has to wear diapers during the day,” Katie said as she hopped onto the changing table.

Alexa nodded as she undid Katie’s diaper. “I have enough for at least 2 weeks,” Alexa said. “My luggage has more.”

“I really like this brand,” Katie said. “They’re comfy.”

Alexa nodded. “Yeah, they are,” she said as she cleaned Katie with a wipe.

She replaced the older diaper with a new one and sprinkled a generous amount of baby powder as she finished diapering Katie. Katie stood up and then Alexa laid down on the changing table as Katie went to work. “Oh no,” Katie said. “You’re a bit red. Here I have this ointment.”

Katie reached into her bag and pulled out a tube of anti rash diaper cream and applied it to Alexa’s red areas. She then sprinkled a lot of baby powder on her and secured the diaper. They put their pants back on and tossed everything away as they made their way to the baggage claim.

“I’m sorry,” a man said. “It seems that the luggage for Flight 101 is not here yet. Please submit your names and addresses and they will be delivered as soon as they arrive. If you’re staying in a hotel, please provide the hotel name and address.”

Katie and Alexa approached the desk and submitted their names. Katie filled out her aunt’s address and then said. “I guess it’s a good thing you’re coming with.”

Alexa nodded. “Yeah, guess so. But that means I’ll need more clothes.”

Katie nodded. “Oh there’s my aunt!” Katie pointed.

Alexa turned to see a tall red haired woman with curly hair and a big chest… not that that was the only thing she noticed… Alexa could see the facial similarities with their nose and chin. “Who is this?” The woman asked.

“Aunt Nora, this is Alexa Johnson. Alexa, this is is my aunt Nora,” Katie said. “Auntie, Alexa is my friend and will be staying with us. She… shares my problem.”

Nora raised an eyebrow as she looked at the young woman she didn’t know, unsure why her niece would just randomly invite some stranger to her home, but sighed. She didn’t see Alexa as much of a threat, and nodded. “Okay. Well, I only have one car seat,” Nora teased. “Come on, Alexa. Let’s get you girls out of the airport. I’m sure you can tell me about yourself in the car.”

Alexa nodded as she followed Nora towards the exit with Katie next to her. They sat in the back of Nora’s SUV while she drove. Alexa introduced herself properly while Nora drove, explaining about her internship and everything. She explained the incident with Katie and Nora giggled a bit, amused by the story. “And that’s everything,” Alexa said as she caught up to the present.

“Well, it sounds like you have had quite the journey,” Nora said. “I can see why my niece bonded with you.”

Alexa put on a goofy smile as Nora turned into a driveway. Alexa gazed at the blue suburban home. It finally set in that she was at someone else’s home who knew about her need for diapers. That same person was someone she only met a few hours ago. Alexa chuckled to herself as she thought about the oddity.
