Mistake made, and made up

Walking across the street, Alexa considered what else she had to do today. Check on her presentation, call the lady back, and talk to Devin. Get some underwear too, and another bra. Having made her priority list, Alexa walked with the confidence of someone who's life was in order.

"I'll take a large...uh, clever. And your pumpkin spice latte please..." Alexa said, standing at the counter. Looking at the display of the cafe's baked goods, Alexa stared at them; with no one in line, she got to have a through inspection of the sweets. Deciding on a pastry, she asked for that as well.

"You on a coffee run for mommy?" The girl at the counter asked after giving the total to Alexa. Shaking her head, Alexa tried her best to remain serious.

"No, just for me and a friend." Alexa took the pastry and change, sitting down in one of the seats. Remembering Carol's friend, she went back to the counter, much shyer. "Is Beatrix here? Carol says..."

"She is. Let me go find her for you cutie." The girl at the counter said before Alexa could finish. Sitting back down, Alexa fiddled and played with her phone as she waited for the woman. Eventually, an average height, older woman came from the back with the barista from the front.

"I heard you wanted me?" The woman's voice said from behind Alexa, grabbing her the instant Alexa heard the voice. Alexa squeaked, more shrill than a mouse, and felt a large burst of pee flow into her diaper.

"Oh, Carol told me to tell you hi if I saw you." Alexa said, taking another bite from her pastry.

"Carol, Carol Simons?" Alexa affirmed it. "Are you her niece? Here on vacation?"

"Uhm, no. I'm on a business trip here." Alexa said, swinging her feet back and forth from the stool. Why did everyone always have to think she was a kid?

"Aw, that's adorable. Business to visit your auntie?" Beatrix said, not buying that the person in front of her was anything but a child, or that she could be on a 'business trip'.

"I'm 24, I'm just friends with Carol." Alexa said, producing her ID for the woman.

"Oh, well, uh, my apologies." The woman said, scratching the back of her head. How was the person in front of her 24? Taking a seat, she watched the girl bound up to grab her drink, sipping it in relief. Making conversation with the girl as she waited for Carol's drink was quite easy, but Beatrix still felt quite bad about scaring the kid, then treating her like that. Promising to make it up to her, she offered the girl a complimentary smoothie.

Alexa left with her and Carol's coffee, and a nice large protein powered papaya smoothie, feeling a bit better. The smoothie tasted delicious, and Alexa was more focused on sucking it down then her previous, (minor) accident. Beatrix watched the girl leave her café, confused at the whole encounter.
