Chapter 17

How does the flight go?

Discovering a Swap..

Alexa slowly felt a bump, then a slight tremor, then stillness. Blinking a bit, she tried to get herself situated. Her mouth was dry as hell, alongside the fact that she was sitting uncomfortably. Her neck was leaning on Carol, and she straightened up a bit. Once she was feeling more awake, she looked out the window.

Blackness. Beneath it was most likely the ocean. Checking her watch, Alexa realized the plane had been flying for a few hours at this point. It had to have been, with how uncomfortable Alexa's back felt, and the time on the watch.

Paging one of the flight attendants, she asked for a mimosa and some water. The girl looked at her quizzically, until she produced an ID. After that, she smiled and returned with the requested drinks. Alexa greedily suckled down the water, with the attendant taking the trash and replacing the water after a minute or so. Sipping on her mimosa, she let herself get comfortable.

Carol was asleep, as graceful as ever. Around her waist felt like a cloud. Someone had draped a standard blue blanket over her while she slept, which Alexa kept on her body. Getting bored with moving in and out of sleep, Alexa shimmed her way around the sleeping mother and to her carry on. Grabbing the new bag, she remembered how Carol had stuffed the diapers to the bottom, which would hide her the embarrassment of them spilling out. Still, just to hide her shame a bit, Alexa took the bag back to her seat with her, even as cramped as it might be.

Popping open the bag, Alexa was shocked when her laptop wasn't visible. Instead, Ziploc bags of a young girls clothing, diapers, changing supplies, snacks...more girls clothing....

Sitting at home, the woman who had accidently grabbed Alexa's bag bit her knuckle. Emailing someone who might think their laptop was stolen would be helpful, but what if that person just stole her bag instead? It was a mess, and one she only had had the time to get around to once she was done putting her kids to bed.

'Miss Johnson,

Please respond at your earliest convenience. I believe we may have mistakenly swapped bags by some chance at the airport. Apologies for the email out of the blue.'

The mother of 5 pressed send, and shut her laptop. Hopefully, just hopefully, she'd find a way to get the laptop back.

Alexa's inbox received and processed the mail, which awaited someone with an internet connection to view it.

Meanwhile, thousands of feet up in the air above an ocean, Alexa was in full panic mode. The bag was labeled (with pink sharpie) 'Joan's Bag' on one of the inner seams, but other then that, there was no identifiable information. While she didn't want to wake Carol, her panicked state made it easy to shake her. The woman's eyes shot up in a few seconds, and she looked at Alexa with concern.

"What's wrong?" She said, clearing her throat. A whisper followed. "Do you need a change?"

"No, Carol. Someone....my bag..." Alexa said, words sputtering out but not making sense. Carol took the bag from Alexa's hands, and looked through it. Young girl's clothing. Diapers. Same company as Lexi's. Changing supplies. Snacks. More clothes. Nothing.

"Did you grab the wrong bag?" Carol whispered to Alexa, not trying to cause a scene.

"No, I...I thought I had the right one. My laptop! It was in that bag." Alexa said, her voice quivering with worry. Carol realized the bigger task was stopping Alexa from crying and causing a scene. Rubbing the girls back, she tried her best to assuage her worries.

"Did you have anyway to contact you in the bag? An email, anything of the sort?" Carol asked, placing the bags at her legs as she rested Alexa's head against her shoulder, rubbing her back in circles.

"My-my laptop has my email written on the bottom." Alexa said, her quiver correcting itself. A flight attendant came by as the girl relaxed, refilling her mimosa, and grabbing a drink for Carol as well.

"Listen, I'm sure it's just a mix-up. You'll get your laptop back and they'll get their daughters stuff back. For now, there is nothing we can do." Carol said, as Alexa nodded. The girl went back to gulping down her mimosa's, like on the first flight. Carol rooted through the bag a bit more, and nearly pulled out a diaper into the open.

Alexa put her hand over it, stopping Carol from taking it into public view. "Carol, please. Just, uh, keep them in there." Looking at the frequent red face that Alexa had, Carol relented. The girl clearly was horrified by the thought of being associated with diapers, and Carol wasn't cruel.

Sitting down in the seat, Alexa felt a slight twinge in her bladder. Right. Time to get up.

"Another one, miss?" The flight attendant asked, which got a thumbs up from Alexa.

Now she had to sit here and wait for the drink to come back.....

"I actually have movies on my laptop, I think. If you're bored." Carol said, zipping up the backpack and placing it back in the storage area overhead. Taking her bag down, she zipped it open and pulled out her laptop.

Alexa was more then happy to sit and watch whatever movies were available, if only to turn her brain off for a bit. Once she got the drink down, she'd get up and use the bathroom, then watch some movies.

"Attention all aboard, this is captain speaking. We'll be serving our breakfast service in the next few minutes. The attendants will have a menu for you. Please enjoy." A squeaky woman's voice said over the intercom.

Alexa hadn't been able to get out of her seat. First, it was getting her drink. Then, Carol put the laptop on her lap and helped her find the movies. By the time that was done, breakfast was coming around and Alexa had to choose what she wanted. That came out too quick for her to nip to the bathroom, and she and Carol were watching some silly romcom. Both were laughing, and Alexa took Carol's leftover muffin and fruit, munching on it. A flight attendant gave the group seconds, which Alexa accepted with little thought.

The only thing that reminded Alexa of the fact that she ever even needed the bathroom was the movie ending. By that point, it was like Alexa had turned off a switch. She went from laser focus onto a movie, to realizing she better get up and use the bathroom. As she stood up, the laptop lurched forward, and Alexa found herself covered in the remains of the breakfast meal, chocolate milk, mimosa, and Carol's tea. Looking down, her pants and short were soaked and looked disgusting, food particles all over them.

"Let's go to the bathroom." Carol said, her face becoming serious. Grabbing (not) Alexa's bag, Carol escorted her to the bathroom. A flight attendant nearly stopped her, but Carol spoke up.

"My daughters having some...issues. Is it alright for me to accompany her to the stall?" Carol said.

"Of course. Do you need anything from us?" The male flight attendant asked with a customer service smile.

"No, I appreciate it however." Carol said, joining Alexa in the small bathroom.

Alexa was horrified, as her sweatpants had the combined stains of food and drink, with the shirt being little better. Stirring in her gut was the deep desire to use the bathroom, inflamed by the fact that she was so close to one.

"Carol, I have to go. Bad." Alexa said, eliciting a smile from the woman.

"Gotcha. Let's get your pants off and your diaper untapped." Carol said, sitting Alexa down on top of the toilet, maneuvering around her to get the sweatpants off. One leg, pull. Another leg, pull. back to the other leg. It was a slow process, and Alexa felt her control over her bowels loosening as she tried to help Carol get the stuck pants off. She was on top of the potty, ready to go, separated by only the inches of padding. Just a few seconds more....

Is she able to hold it?
