“I still sense something...wrong,” Wes told his companion as they continued down the hallway.

Control Room Troubles

Chapter 40 by zewesman zewesman

Hi everybody, Zewesman here! I bet you are all wondering where I was or if I was dead. Well, about that...Turns out a family member of mine died recently and that loss hit me hard and I lost all motivation to write. And then I had to plan a funeral/plan a burial/take care of the estate and that ended up eating up a lot of time. So, between the grieving and the planning I found little time to write or really do anything else I loved to do. Even now I miss that family member each day but I have slowly begun to move on and slowly return to the things I loved to do. I tried to start writing earlier and just couldn't think of anything to write after a certain point. But today something just clicked and I was able to write the vast majority of this chapter tonight. I hope this means an end to my writer's block and I can get back to writing chapters a bit more frequently. I don't think I can promise once a week currently. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy!

“We must inform the mistress about that...thing,” Alema said as the two made their way through the hallway. The twi’lek was clearly shaken by what had happened, which Wes could not fault her for. Any creature that is resistant or immune to the Force is a great threat to a Sith, and one that seemingly lives in space can appear anywhere is especially dangerous. Wes could not shake this sense of dread that had filled him at the start of that battle and he sensed the creature was still around, somewhere, waiting for them.

“I agree. But I would not be surprised if she already knew about it,” Wes theorized. If there was one thing he knew about his master is that she always knew more than what she was telling anybody. The two shared little words after that as they basically walked in silence down the singular hallway to an elevator. There were two guards posted at the elevator who saluted the two as the Sith infiltrators approached them.

“Master Jedi, we’ve already gotten permission from Master Plo Tao to allow you up to the control room,” the guard on the left told the two as they came within earshot of the guards.

“Thank you both for the information,” Wes said as he looked at Alema and gave her a nod. “But your services are no longer needed,” Wes said as he ignited his crimson lightsaber through the chest of the guard in front of him. He looked over to see Alema’s blade chop the guard in front of her in two at the waist. Wes turned off his weapon and watched the body crumple to the ground as he and Alema stepped into the elevator and pressed the button to be taken to the top.

The doors opened to a large room that was mostly intact. There were a few force fields in place to create an atmosphere for the room. The spacious area was mostly empty except for a large computer with a single access console. At that console stood two figures cloaked in robes.

“The Jedi, I assume?” Alema half stated half asked.

“Indeed. Be ready,” was all Wes said as he began the short way to their location.

“It seems we have company, padawan,” a grizzled male voice said.

“It would appear that way,” a feminine voice replied.

“They wear the robes of the Jedi yet they stink of the Dark Side!” yelled the man.

“We must exterminate all who are tainted by it!” chimed in the female as the two turned and ignited their lightsabers. Wes and Alema barely had time to ignite their own lightsabers before the two Jedi use Force Jump to close the gap between the two groups. The blue and green lightsabers of the Jedi clashed with the crimson red blades of the Sith interlopers. The men and women split up into separate groups as they fought each other.

“You’ve come to steal this base from me, haven’t you?!” yelled the male Jedi as he clashed with Wes. The blue blade of the Jedi was blocked over and over by the Sith’s red blade. The Jedi swung his blade towards Wes’ chest only for it to be deflected by his weapon. The jedi used the momentum of the block to bring his blade around to Wes’ other side, which forced Wes to block with his blade over his shoulder. A powerful Force Push erupted from the Jedi’s hand right into the gut of the young Sith, which sent him flying across the room.

“Ooof,” was all Wes could say as he slowly got up only to barely be able to block a Force Jump attack from the Jedi. Their blades locked together as the older Jedi showed signs of anger and hatred, which allowed him to slowly begin to overpower the Sith warrior.

“YOU WILL BE PURGED FROM THE GALAXY!” he roared at Wes, who struggled to keep up with the far more experienced fighter.

“Really? From what I can tell, you’ve already taken quite a few steps down the Dark Side already, old man,” Wes said with a smirk. The Jedi seemed to get angrier at that statement but also a bit caught off guard, which gave Wes his chance. He used his own Force Push to send the old Jedi flying across the room. Wes followed up with his own Force Jump to attack the Jedi, who was able to just barely roll out of the way.

“You will not beat me so easily!” he scoffed at Wes as he got to his feet and charged in. The two mens’ lightsabers clashed with each other as their heightened senses and speeds allowed them to attack and deflect a flurry of lightsaber strikes that each one threw at the other. The two men moved around the rather spacious control room as a blur of red and blue as the lightsabers kept smashing into each other.

“What’s the matter, old man, getting tired?” asked Wes as he noticed the Jedi began to breath a bit harder than earlier. “All I gotta do is tire you out a bit more, kill you, and then have some fun with your cute little padawan over there!” Wes said as he let out a hardy laugh. This seemed to anger the Jedi very much as his eyes bulged out of his eyes and his face became contorted with anger.

“YOU WILL NOT DEFILE MY PURE AND INNOCENT PADAWAN!” yelled the very angry man as he put all his strength behind his next flurry of blows. Wes strengthened his defenses and was able to take blow after blow without losing any ground. Once the Jedi’s attacks ended, he was breathing very hard, clearly winded from all those attacks and the power he put behind them.

“Sadly, for you anyway, you won’t be here to see the things I will do to her!” Wes told the Jedi as he blasted the Jedi with some Force Lightning. The powerful attack sent the Jedi flying across the room until he smashed into the wall on the other side. The Jedi’s lightsaber fell out of his hand and rolled off to his side as Wes walked over to see the downed Jedi.

“The...Dark...Side...will...not...” was all the Jedi could get out as he struggled to breath even more than before. Wes looked over and saw the Jedi’s blade laying on the ground. A smile formed across his face as he lifted his arm and his hand aimed towards the fallen blade. The lightsaber rattled on the ground for a few moments before it flew into his hand from the ground. The Sith ignited the blade in front of the Jedi.

“Farewell fallen Jedi. It brings me much pleasure to know that you will die with the Dark Side coursing through you!” Wes said as he brought the own man’s weapon down on him, slicing him in half.
