Well, it's time for the boring stuff eh?
So it seems.
You begin taking the box, sorting them through the cabinets, Nacius didn't go cheap, he bought plenty of food, even a bit of salted beef for stew, and you could swear you saw a few ash yams from Morrowind.
"Nacius are these ash yams?" You ask, holding one up.
"Yes ma'am, they certainly aren't in short supply, what with the eruption..." Nacius says.
You put them away, sifting through the box.
"Nasty bit of business that, Sanna is no fan of what the Dunmer do to her people, but she does feel sorry for those on that cursed island." You say, grabbing items from the box and shoving them in the cabinets.
"You ever have any trouble with slavers in Elsweyr Sanna?" Nacius asks.
"No, the slavers like to stick to Black Marsh, they rarely come to Elsweyr." You reply, looking closely at an onion that appeared to have a small blemish on it.
"I've never had any problems with the Dunmer, I find their whole living god worship a tad strange though."
You chuckle and close a cabinet. "Well if the rumors are true, their gods aren't really living anymore!"
Nacius chuckles. "Yeah, well whatever happens, I hope that they do okay, maybe they'll have some kind of awakening moment, no more slaves..." Nacius says.
"That, or they will take more slaves to rebuild." You chime in.
"Heh, that is a possibility..."
You finish putting away the food items, everything looks nice and full now, you hoped that Nacius would teach you how to cook properly, after that rabbit incident, you were surprised that you had managed to live this long! You pull out a feather duster that was resting at the bottom of the box.
"Well, if only Sanna had one of these earlier!" You say with a chuckle.
"I didn't know you were gonna dust up the place while I was gone!" Nacius replies.
"Don't worry, I'll use it to make sure that this place doesn't look abandoned again." You say.
Nacius gets up and sets the box outside by the door.
"We can use that for more firewood later." He says, shutting the door.
You stand in the kitchen area and present the now full shelves and cabinets to Nacius.
"Voilà, fully stocked!" You say.
"Haha... So, when do you want me to teach you how to cook properly eh?" He asks with a grin.
You felt embarrassed again, thinking back to the rabbit, if Nacius hadn't been there to stop you, you probably would've died from eating that poor mangled creature.
"Whenever you are, Sanna could go for a meal, it is getting late afterall." You say.
Nacius chuckles and looks through the kitchen, digging through everything looking for something... You began to wonder exactly how much this had cost.
"Hey Nacius?" You ask.
"Hmm?"
You scratch the back of your neck. "Sanna knows that it is rude to ask, but just how much did this cost you?" You ask, shyly.
Nacius turns to look at you.
"Does it matter?" He asks.
You felt terrible asking, you had just done what everyone and their mothers tell people not to do, you looked a damned gift horse in the mouth.
"Sanna just feels guilty, she has cost you so much money, and yet she cannot pay you back..." You say, looking down.
Nacius puts a hand on your shoulder.
"You gotta stop worrying about all that, you're recovering, you're a fresh face here in Cyrodiil, you've got a job set up after your leg starts feeling better, just relax for now, I can't imagine that life in Anequina was easy from what you've told me." He says.
You look up at him and sigh.
"Sanna has just never been gifted this many things at once before, it's kind of shocking to her, she comes from a poor family, to be thrown into this money is just baffling." You say.
Nacius rubs your shoulder and chuckles.
"Well, enjoy it, you deserve a bit of a breather for a while, get adjusted to living here!" He says cheerfully, going back to rummaging through the kitchen.
You nod your head and lean against one of the cabinets, watching Nacius prepare ingredients for something. He suddenly turns to you, thinking for a moment before asking you something.
"Can you scoot over to the side for just a moment? I think all of my pots and pans are in there." He asks.
You move over and let Nacius dig through there, he pulls out some dusty pots and what looks to be some kind of stand, he blows them off and uses his shirt to wipe whatever dust is left out of the pot.
"So, what are you going to teach this one?" You ask with an eyebrow raised.
"Start things simple, tomato soup!" He says with a chuckle.
He walks over to where he placed the ingredients down and lists them to you, you be sure to listen very carefully to what he has to say, your survival may very well depend on this. You closely watch Nacius as he demonstrates how to cut things, using his new dagger he got from Tolggor, he let you have a go at a tomato, you did rather.... questionably, but Nacius kept up a positive attitude, he began adding some wine to the mix, confusing you. He told you about all the things to watch out for, adding to much garlic can make it taste too garlicy, make sure you're making just enough so you don't waste ingredients, the basics, which you had no clue about.
"Sanna still says stealing food is easier." You joke.
"Well, someone has to make the food that people steal, right?" He adds.
"Sanna supposes you are correct, unless you Imperials have some god that grants you cooked meals?" You ask sarcastically.
The two of you laugh at each others banter before Nacius started mixing things together, he threw some new wood into the hearth since the fire was starting to go out. He used the hearth to slowly begin actually cooking the soup, as he did, he told you approximately how long to have it there for, ultimately saying that it should be pretty easy to tell once it's ready to eat. He hands you the reigns for a moment, you stir the mixture for a moment, looking at it, it's a bright red color, the smell was making your stomach growl, Nacius notices and laughs.
Soon Nacius motions for you to give it a taste, you bring the spoon up to your lips and give it a taste, it was pretty good, not bad for something so blandly called tomato soup. You and Nacius pour two generous bowl fulls of soup, Nacius pulls out the one chair and beckons you to take a seat.
"Nope, you did the cooking Nacius, let Sanna stand, she does not mind." You say.
"Ah, I insist, I can kneel, it's not so bad." He replies.
The two of you argue over who gets the chair before you begrudgingly accept the seat, watching Nacius set his bowl down across from you.
"I'm gonna go gather some things, I'll be right back, feel free to dig in before me!" He says before almost running off and heading down into the cellar.
What exactly was he going to get? Wine probably, but as excited as wine would get the man, you saw something else in his eyes...
What was he so excited about?
