Liara watched as Shepard walked towards her. "Hey, Liara... Been a while," she greeted with her casual, confident swagger. Liara took a step back.

"Who are you? What are you?" She demanded to know, drawing her gun and aiming it at the being standing before her.

"Well, guess I expected this reaction," sighed Shepard. "Li, please put the gun away, I promise you, It's me, Jane," she told Liara. "Go ahead, make me prove it."

Liara came up with a question. "On the Normandy, I made a suggestion. What was it?"

Shepard answered smoothly. "That maybe we should just take advantage of the chaos of the battle surrounding Earth and slip away."

That was correct, but not enough for her. Liara considered for a moment. "Before the final battle, you and Garrus made a promise about what to do if you both died. What was that promise?" She asked. She had picked something unrelated to her because she figured that, if this was a trick, the odds of them brushing up on Shepard's relationship with others was smaller.

"We promised that if there was an afterlife, and if Humans and Turians go to the same place, that we should meet up at a bar."

That shocked Liara. She ran through her thoughts and came to the conclusion that there was no way that the Reapers could have found out about that conversation. Meaning that this had to be... "Shepard?" She asked in disbelief as he lowered her gun.

"In the flesh," she replied with a smile.

"How... Where... When..." Liara had a million questions all fighting to get out of her mouth at once, causing a fatal traffic jam in her throat as she could only stammer incoherently.

"Follow me, I'll explain everything." Shepard turned around and began to walk back into the Reaper, gesturing for Liara to follow.

Liara followed, subtly turning on a scanner that would detect and alert her if the Reaper tried to indoctrinate her. She followed Shepard into the open door and into the Reaper. The inside was nothing like what she had expected. Gone were the impossible and oppressive angles that pressed into your very mind. Absent was the subtle hum of the machine. Instead, the interior was similar to that of a modern military ship, such as the Normandy. She stepped forward and began to look around as Shepard led her to an elevator.

"After the final battle on Earth. I was wounded. Badly," Shepard began to explain. The Reapers had been destroyed, all except for this one. So imagine my surprise when it swoops in and picks me up," she laughed. Soon I was in some kind of healing tank, being healed and rebuilt," she continued. "It took a long time, but eventually, I got, well, essentially Lazarus 2.0'd, for lack of a better term. However, unlike last time, I was awake and conscious for the entire process. So I began to get to work." The elevator stopped, and son they were in a space that looked more like something you would see on a luxury pleasure cruiser. Comfortable spaces and open environments with holo screens displaying pleasant, tropical beaches and other beautiful scenery. "So I began to get to work on converting this Reaper. My first thought was to steer it into a nearby sun, take it out along with me, but then I had a better idea. I had full access to all of the systems aboard the ship, the capability to manufacture anything. Reapers have a lot of capabilities, countless ones that we never even knew about. I disabled all indoctrination systems and had them destroyed. No more mind control. Then I began fabricating and remodeling the inside of this ship to make it something actually pleasant to live inside of. Finally... I began to get this ready." She led Liara to a large door. It opened revealing a luxurious office space with a desk in the center of the room. "Welcome to your new base of operations, Miss Shadow Broker."

Liara looked around the space. The office was well-designed, using a lot of modern Asari design sensibilities, gentle curves and yonic features. She took a seat behind the desk and multiple holographic monitors flashed to life.

"All that needs to be done is for you to connect this ship to the Broker Network. And you'll have your new office up and running right away," explained Shepard.
