Sleeping Like A Babe

“So who wants to win some money?” she asked the cheering audience, “we need two contestants who have a talent for sleeping. That’s all you need to do, you don’t need to be smart, or fast, or strong, or even sexy. Just sleep. The best at sleeping will win £1000. So hands up, who’s up for it?” Several hands go up, Holly selects a man and a woman and brings them down to the stage to play the first game

Holly asked the two contestants to introduce themselves, which they did as Roy & Liz.

“I said this game involved nothing more than sleeping and I wasn’t lying” explained Holly, “as you may have noticed when you came in today there is a nice bed right at the front of the audience. Climb in” Removing their shoes, the two contestants warily climb into the bed, wondering where the catch was. “Sorry it’s only a single bed, but budgets you know…” Holly joked, “I’m sure it won’t be a problem for you two to snuggle up, it’s not like you’re strangers. Oh right, yeah sorry” Holly teased.

A pair of women dressed in sexy Nurses uniforms wheel out a pair of medical monitors “Don’t worry”, Holly explained, “Our nurses are just attaching a few sensors to your chests so that we can monitor your heart-rate, breathing & pulse. This way we can see when you fall asleep. That’s all you have to do, lie there and fall asleep, lie there at the front of the shouting audience right in front of our noisy gameshow and fall asleep. You have 90 minutes. First person to fall asleep wins, but if neither of you fall asleep, both will get punished.”

The nurses having finished their work walked off stage. “I know it seems like a big ask, but we’ll be back to check on you later and hopefully give you a helping hand” said Holly. Roy & Liz did not looked relieved at this announcement, dreading the kind of help that could be coming their way.
