Skinny dipping

The rising moon shone brightly against the still waters of lake Hylia. Zelda stood on the shore of the small island near its center. Behind her was the tree she had dived off of during her adventure with Link, back then she was still disguised as Sheik.

She smiled, thinking back on the memory. Link had been rather oblivious back then, although she supposed that was for the best. For now, her kingdom was safe, and she take trips like these without having to think of the needs of her kingdom first.

Zelda breathed deeply and sighed, she had come here to get away from it all. For the past few months, she had been hard at work repairing the kingdom that ganondorf had laid to ruin. And though it was a necessary job, and she was happy to do it; it didn’t mean she didn’t still want time for herself.

With a shiver on anticipatory excitement, Zelda reached for the straps of her dress. She pushed them to the sides of her shoulders and the heavy garment fell until it had pooled at her ankles. The princess was naked in the night air. She stepped forward towards the water, slipping off her shoes in the process.

Zelda stepped into the water, as naked as a zora. And as she had done many nights before, she began to swim. She didn’t know when the idea had occured to her. After all, it was completely inappopriate for the sitting queen of Hyrule to be seen in such a manner. But there was something about the freedom of such nudity that appealed to her. It was refreshing to simply let go of all the stuffiness of court life and enjoy the simplicity of life.

Zelda surfaced to catch her breath, she had swam some distance from the island and was more near the middle of lake, where the water temple waited dormantly below. Almost as afterthought, Zelda considered bringing a zora tunic with her the next time she wanted to sneak out. It might be fun to explore the temple on her own, and it didn’t have the associated risk of discovery that the lake had.

However, before Zelda could think any further, she was snapped out of her thoughts by the sound of footsteps back on the island.
