Chapter 22

So, what will you do?
Might as well ask
Seeing as dire as the situation currently is, you suppose it won't hurt to ask Nacius straight up if what he's saying is true, after all, the two of you could very well meet your end in the next few hours, yet you linger for a while. The longer you wait the more nervous you feel about asking, but eventually you cave.
"Nacius?" You call out.
"Yes?" He answers, still facing forward.
"Sanna is...curious as to your flirtations..." You blurt out awkwardly.
Nacius chuckles and glances back at you.
"What? Are you admitting defeat? Do I win our little war?" He asks with a cocky grin on his face.
"N-no, Sanna just wonders if eh..." You **** up.
"Sanna wonders if what you are saying is truthful... if you really see Sanna like this." You manage to get out.
His face goes red again, now he was embarrassed, this alone told you enough, but you sat there awaiting his answer anyways.
"W-well, I uhh... I'm not a good liar Sanna, if that's what you're getting at." He says, in an attempt to dodge the question.
You meet his eyes, increasing the intensity and embarrassment of the situation, you almost completely forgot about the arrow in your shoulder at this point.
"That is not what Sanna meant Nacius, she asks if you... she asks if you really do find her attractive." You say
You curl your tail and look down, embarrassed, truth was, you found him quite good looking on top of considering him a good friend, especially after all of the events that had transpired earlier. Nacius says nothing for a moment, then he sighs.
"I admit... I-I do find you attractive miss, after all, I can't pull compliments out of nowhere." He replies, very awkwardly.
"Hush, quit calling this one miss, it makes her feel like an old lady, remember?" You jokingly say, trying to relieve some tension.
"R-right, sorry Sanna." He apologizes.
Things go quiet yet again, this time the tension in the air is palpable, every time you wanted to say something, you couldn't bring yourself to, but after a while, Nacius broke the silence.
"So I think it's safe to assume that everything you've said about me is true as well?" He asks.
"Y-yes, Nacius." You reply.
Nacius turns to you with a genuine smile.
"Thanks Sanna."
You feel bad for some reason, like you've made things too uncomfortable to continue talking.
"Sanna is sorry for making things... weird with you Nacius." You apologize.
"You've got nothing to apologize for, were just confirming these things with each other, matter of fact, it feels pretty good to say that, at least to me it does."
You felt like a weight was lifted, it did feel good to say those things about him genuinely, you still felt strange to have said them, but he didn't seem upset about it.
"This one agrees Nacius, it does feel nice to say these things..." You reply.
The both of you smile at eachother before Nacius faces forward once again, as you continue walking the pain in your shoulder rears its ugly head once again, that throbbing feeling is back. You look at the arrow head, the blood is dry enough to the point where it looks as if it's beginning to chip. You look at Nacius's wound, he hasn't been clutching at it for a while, he is still standing in a strange way, but you assume it's because it hurts him to stand up normally. Suddenly you feel like you needed to tell Nacius something, and without thinking too much about it you just blurt it out.
"Sanna considers you a good friend Nacius." You say.
Nacius turns around again, looking you in the eyes.
"Likewise Sanna, even though we just met, I feel like we've gone through enough together to justify a friendship, wouldn't you agree?" He says with a cheeky grin.
"Sanna agrees, to be completely honest with you, she would've called you friend even before the attack." You say.
Nacius chuckled.
"Well who else was going to protect you from the big bad soldiers back in fort Vlastarus?"
You poke him in the neck, laughing along side him.
"Shut up you dog!" You jokingly yell.
You both continued to follow the road, laughing and poking fun at each other as you did, after a while though, you felt like you needed to come clean with your past, while technically you didn't lie to him, you still... neglected to mention some things.
So, do you tell the truth? He is an imperial soldier at the end of the day, though you don't feel like he'd drop everything you two have gone through and arrest you at this point...
Do you tell him?
