Chapter 19 by Gjt_0530
Does Deku recruit anyone else before USJ? Or do we go to our first big fight?
No, let's let Deku get SOME sleep this week.
A/N: Nothing really erotic about this one, but I want to establish how some action will go in this new version of the story, and show how effectively Deku can utilize having multiple quirks even when they aren't individually broken. A lot of future action might be skipped more heavily, as started toward the later half of the chapter.
Also, this chapter is where actual events make the biggest departure from canon so far. The exact details of the plot are going to get increasing more different as the changes to Midoriya, class 1-A, and others snowball outward...for example, at this time, All Might is noticeably stronger than he was in the canon story, due to not having to overuse his quirk in a second sludge villain fight, and due to not yet having found a successor.
The next few days were eventful, but nothing particularly earthshattering. They had a class election, and Midoriya somehow managed to become class president, but passed the job off to Iida after the first day. They attended classes, and she got to know some of her classmates a bit better.
She was beginning to better understand them, and their quirks.Which proved fortunate when they all went to the USJ for rescue training...only to be interrupted by a villain attack.
The villains had separated them almost first thing. Deku found herself dumped into the water suddenly, but that was a near nonissue for her, shifting to Tsuyu's quirk and swimming toward the surface. She wasn't as...streamlined as Tsuyu, though, and couldn't maneuver as well in the water, so she was somewhat concerned when a half-shark villain appeared to cut her off from her path to the surface.
Fortunately, Tsuyu appeared suddenly, kicking the villain in the side of the head hard. There was another student on her back, a guy with indigo hair...Shinso?
Between the two of them, they were easily able to haul themselves and Shinso onto a nearby boat before he recovered enough to counterattack, and there noticed they were surrounded by a wide variety of aquatic villains.
Deku's mind raced. "Alright...they've split us up. Uraraka is still at the entrance. Bakugo is near there...the ruins, maybe? We need to take care of things here and get back. What do we have available..." He looked at Tsuyu, who nodded to the question she could tell was about to be asked, and she was shifted to have a copy of Harem, and then her own quirk as well. It would be better if she could exchange quirks without Deku's input. She briefly considered doing the same for Ochaco, but...without her input, she wouldn't risk putting her in a more dangerous situation.
Shinso glanced at Tsuyu, and his eyes widened in realization. "Quirk Sharing?"
_He's smart..._Deku nodded. "Can your quirk work on the villains out there?" She'd seen Shinso's quirk in the battle trials, but only briefly.
"Not enough to matter. One person per question. They'd catch on long before I got even a quarter of them even if all of them were willing to respond." Shinso was calm and matter of fact. "Can you share with both of us?"
"No. Not without...preparation."
Shinso nodded, and paused, thinking. "They're not coming up here."
"They split us up, I think, because they don't know our quirks. They put Tsuyu here, which means they weren't putting us at specific disadvantages. We're not pros, and they probably don't have that kind of records access. So, now, they want us to come to them, where they have an advantage. And even with Me and Tsuyu in the water, there are too many of them."
"Then it's in our best interest to get back in a situation where they'd have to leave their advantage to come after us."
Tsuyu but a finger on her cheek, her head to the side. "Kero...we can do that, right Deku-chan?"
"Yes...but which way." She thought frantically back to the layout she'd seen when they'd entered. "Where would maximize our chances"
"Any other zone we risk endangering the other students even more." Shinso responded, looking across the water. "There. That shoreline. There don't appear to be any villains there, but we won't be endangering anyone else further. And it leaves us near other zones where the others were likely sent, if we succeed."
Deku nodded. "Alright then...lets move. Tsuyu, be ready to evade if they try anything ranged. I won't be much help once we're airborne."
Deku shifted into Zero Gravity, and laid a hand against shinso's arm, then her own. Deku grabbed onto Tsuyu's back as they began floating, and reached out to pull Shinso in behind her...which he somewhat awkwardly cooperated with.
"Hold on, kero" A moment later, Tsuyu launched herself through the air, and at the moment her feet left contact with the ground, Deku pressed her hand against the frog-girl, nullifying her gravity too. The group rocketed over the water, essentially weightless, and to the annoyance of their seemingly baffled attackers.
"They're escaping!"
"Stop them!"
The only remotely close to successful attempt to stop them before they reached shore was a pressurized jet of water that wasn't able to hit, and they soon rebounded off the domed roof and back toward the shore of the lake.
Deku was glad they'd had a lead by the time they reached the shore, because as she released the gravity quirk, there was an intense wave of nausea.
Once that had passed, the three were left on solid ground, but with a wave of villains rapidly approaching.
"There are at least 16. We can't fight them directly, even out of the water, kero"
Deku nodded, shifting into Spider to do some preparation. "Lets get further from shore...take away the water as an advantage."
A moment later Tsuyu caught on and joined her in the preparations.
Mere minutes later, their plan was working almost perfectly. 5 of the villains apparently decided they weren't willing to risk fighting out of their chosen territory.
Shinso caught 3 with taunts before the others caught on and stopped speaking. But that was to their advantage as well, as they didn't know they could safely talk to each other, and without communication they were at a disadvantage. All told the internal scuffle this caused, due to misunderstanding the situation as a real betrayal, injured five villains, two of whom retreated into the water to flee, one was completely ****, and one seemed to be unable to get back on his feet, having been attacked by the shark villain and hurt before they managed to snap him out of it...
Shinso backed off, knowing he'd just be a hindrance in a close quarters fight at this point, opting to help by keeping moving and keeping two villains on his tail while they dealt with the rest.
Deku caught one in strands of web, but the remaining strands still restricted the battlefield even after the other noticed, forcing the majority into a chokepoint where they were easier to deal with, and her many legs allowed her to quickly reinforce the webbing on that villain until he had no chance of escaping quickly.
At that point, this quirk had done it's best, and she shifted to Explosion for maximum offense to take down the rest.
Two were thrown hard by the initial blast, including the remained injured villain, who'd been bitten but not downed, and they landed against a web, which caught them as one fell **** and the other was too weak to struggle free. A third was burned and seemed stunned for a moment, which was enough time for Tsuyu to leap, kicking him hard in the chest and knocking him against a large rock. He didn't get back up.
There were only four left on the shore, and they seemed to want to keep their distance at this point. They were at least smart enough to know they'd underestimated the students. They also seemed baffled by Deku and Tsuyu's quirks, since they'd now seen at least 5 seemingly distinct abilities between the 3 students.
Fortunately, that gave the students time to breathe, and more preparation. Deku didn't have Bakugo's support items, but she'd seen him use it enough before even having those to know how to use his quirk well despite that, and with careful use, could be even more mobile than Tsuyu, though it was far more tiring.
She blasted herself up and over a web wall, putting her behind the Villains, who reacted by turning to face their now closest threat...which was a mistake, as Tsuyu delivered another powerful kick to a distracted villain's back, which in turn gave Deku an opening to go in for an attack on another.
They mopped up these last four villains fairly quickly, before going back and fully restraining the rest with webbing.
"What's next, kero?" Tsuyu surveyed the villains they'd taken down.
"We..." Deku started to answer, but was interrupted by a familiar voice.
"You've done enough, we'll take things from here." Deku turned to see one of their teachers, Snipe, approaching quickly.
"S-sensei. How did you get here so quickly? Are the others..." Deku was surprised. UA was too far for the teachers to have gotten here to help already.
"We were warped here, and some of us are rounding up the remaining villains while the rest are dealing with the leaders of this attack. Are you three hurt?"
Deku looked around, as each of her classmates shook their heads. "Nothing major."
"And the villains?"
"I think there are seven left in the lake, unless they've escaped already. Two of them are injured." Deku motioned toward the now somewhat distant waterline.
"Good work, all of you. For now, this is probably the safest area for you to be, but put some distance between yourselves and these villains. If anything happens, head for the entrance." He looked out over the water. "I'll take care of the stragglers."
Deku breathed a sign of relief.
Fifteen minutes later, the situation was wrapping up, and the students rescued. The villains had, for the most part been restrained and the police were arresting them, save the few who had escaped.Apparently, while Deku and the others had been fighting, several other fights had been happening in parallel, which wasn't surprising. What was surprising was how badly the villains plan had seemingly worked.
Several other students had managed to defeat their opponents before the teachers even arrived, and even those who didn't, had made progress.
Monoma and Iida had proven to be the MVPs of the students. Iida had, with help, managed to escape the USJ and rush toward UA for backup. Meanwhile, Monoma had, using Engine, managed to blitz the mist villain Kurogiri and make contact, thus allowing him to copy his quirk.
By this time, the villains had summoned a dangerous opponent, Nomu, and Aizawa was badly hurt. so, knowing he only had limited time, Monoma prioritized. He opened a portal to UA, and brought back every teacher he could find in that brief window. Which was fortunately, most of them. All might had already left the school, but Iida met him halfway, and, now knowing the urgency, he'd rushed to the scene.
The Nomu was beaten handily by All Might, especially once Monoma thought to copy the injured Aizawa and erase some portion of his quirks, but Kurogiri and Shigaraki, the two seeming ringleaders, escaped.
None of the students were hurt badly, and Aizawa and Thirteen had been rushed to recovery girl, being the only truly critical injuries.
As a result of the attack, however, the other students learned about Tsuyu's ability to use Midoriya's quirks, and then, in order to explain that, that Midoriya could manipulate other people's quirks once they were linked.
That would certainly change their dynamics going forward, but Deku wasn't yet sure how.
How does it change things?
