1898 Clan Kalderesh

Angel gasped for air as he fell to the ground, only to find that his lungs did not work. It all came rushing back to him. A century and a half of evil. Of monstrous acts that even demons admired. He screamed out as he was wracked with pain.

"Yes," the Elder said as he approached after watching the creature suffer. "The curse takes hold."

"What...what have you done?"

"Know this, you shall suffer, you shall be weakened, until you find what brings you true happiness."

"You think it is a curse for me to become happy?"

The Elder smiled, "I know what makes you happy. It's a curse of its own type."

1996 New York

"Wow, can't even catch a rat," Whistler said. "Not much of a vampire, are you?"

Angel looked up weakly, "Who are you?"

"I'm here to set you on a new path."

"And this...suffering will end?"

"Yes...and a different sort will begin."

Welcome to the Hellmouth

Buffy watched the stranger creep through the ally from her position up above. She swung down and connected sending him flying across the ground.

All of her senses flashed red as he got up. After hitting him it was like his power jumped dramatically.

The Pack

"You're scared..." Xander said as he stalked after Buffy.

Buffy was. Not because of the danger. She didn't want to fight her friend.

Xander sniffed the air. "Oh, you are dripping down you're leg."

"Xander, I don't want to hurt you," she said as she took a defensive stance.

He threw her back into the wall. "Do you want to hurt me now?"

She grit her teeth, fear and arousal was always a horrible thing to have to deal with. As a Slayer she had spent a lot of time learning how to master her fear, but this was something she hadn't expected.

He moved in front of her, "You like them bad. Well, guess who just got bad."

As he began to kiss her neck and paw at her body, she thought about his words. He was bad. She wasn't scared of bad things.

She picked him up and slammed him through the table.

"Willow," Xander called out from the cage. "Let me out, Willow."

"That's...that's not going to happen," she said trembling.

"Okay, well my new friends will let me out," he said as the other Hyenas came crashing through the window.

Willow took off running and it didn't take long for him to get free of the cage. However, he looked after her confused. She had been terrified, yet she wasn't the least bit horny.

Angel

"We'll be safe in here," Buffy said as she led him into her room.

"I should get going," he said as he moved over to the window. "I don't want..."

"No," she said as she stopped him. "You're hurt. You didn't stand a chance against those vampires."

"I'll be fine."

"No, here," she said as she grabbed and kissed him.

They kissed for a few seconds before he pulled back. "Oh, no."

"What?" she asked as she looked him over. She then sniffed the air and looked down at the wet patch on his pants. "You just...came? Just...already? That's pathetic."

When she looked back up his vampire visage was on and she screamed.

Angel jumped out the window, clearing to the street in a single leap. He had been planning on running, but as the Three approached him, something felt different.

"Angelus, it's time for you to pay the price for your betrayal," the one in the lead said as he approached.

Angel's fist went straight through the other vampire's head.

"Really, Angel, just going to lie there?" Darla taunted as she looked back. The vampire she had sired was laying on the ground, pathetically moaning in agony.

"I never know what I saw in you," she said sadly. "Piece of fucking trash. I've got your girl pinned down and all you can do is lie there. I heard she even makes out with another guy. I'm tempted to let her live just so I can get my hands on their sex tape one day. Maybe if he was here she'd actually be safe. Instead of..."

Darla paused as she felt an arrow jammed through her back. She knew Angel was there, but had no idea how he had managed to move so fast.
