"I think I'll be okay." You say, just wanting this conversation to end.

She leaves you to browse the incontinence aisle in peace. There are more options than you expected. Maybe you should have asked for help. Some are like the pads women wear on the periods. Some are shaped like underpants and a couple look like baby diapers. Some are for light incontinence and some are for heavy. Some even specify that they are for bowel incontinence too.

You are lost in thought when you hear a familiar voice. "Daniel?"

You turn to see your friend Stephen. "Oh..." You panic. "Hi."

"Why are you looking at adult diapers?" he asks.

"I..." You can't think of anything to say. "Um..."

"Shit. Sorry. I didn't mean to embarrass you." He says. "I just didn't know you had a problem."

You almost deny suffering from incontinence but you realise that you'd then have to explain yourself so you let it go. "It's okay." You grab the pack with the picture that looks most like what Sarah was wearing and carry it up to the counter.

Stephen walks with you, completely failing to hide the fact that he's examining the package you're carrying. You glance down and realise that written very clearly on the front is "Maximum absorbency. For complete bladder and bowel incontinence."

"You aren't seeing Sarah tonight?" He asks as you place the package on the counter.

"She wasn't feeling up to it tonight." You say.

"We could hang out." He suggests.
