Chapter 8 by thtiger

Does Nami find the map?

Yes! And a lot more.

Ranma was realizing that his plan was full of holes. Which made sense. He was terrible at planning anything that didn’t end up with him punching someone in the face. In this case the most glaring problem was how his girl side was going to explain how she got the map from him.

Clearly he was way too competent for that to happen. Nami was positively going to think he was working in collusion with his girl side, and the absolute last thing he wanted was for Nami to start thinking of both sides of Ranma being together. He really needed to come up with a new plan.

As Ranma idly examined the treasure in the room he picked up a gold platter decorated with the image of the Legendary Phoenix. He snorted in derision. The phoenix tribe were idiots and assholes with an overly exaggerated opinion of themselves because they could fly above everyone else. But as he considered the image he began to get a glimmer of an idea. Something with enough truth that he might be able to pull it off.

*******************************************************************************

“Found it,” Nami cried out in glee. It turned out that buried under all the bric-a-brac was an old navigator’s desk. The map was in one of the drawers, along with a half dozen others that Nami already had better copies of.

“I guess I get all the rest then,” Captain Ryoga told her, casting his eyes over the vast amount of gold and jewels in the room, and suddenly Nami realized she’d been conned. She’d wanted to go to the Grand Line because there were more resources there and raising the 100,000,000 Berry she needed to buy Cokoyasi village from Arlong would be much easier to come by. But with the treasure in this room, plus what she’d already stolen she might already have all she needed. She didn’t need the map.

There was one technical problem. It was one thing to sneak a piece of paper out of a pirate stronghold. It was another thing to do so with what had to be a thousand pounds of treasure.

As Nami was thinking about how she could steal everything, Captain Ryoga had tossed a room sized rug down on the floor and was filling the middle of it with the contents of the room. He pulled the corners together to make one large bag, nearly as big as he was, and with no apparent effort hoisted it up over his shoulder. “Well, I’m off. Enjoy your trip,” he told Nami. She blanched a bit at this display of strength, glad that hadn’t tried to get **** on him for helping to spit roast her earlier.

“Wait!” Nami cried out, trying to think of some way to get her hands on that bag of loot. Well, when all else fails when dealing with pirates, throw some pussy in front of them. “Do you have a ship’s girl? I’m a bit at loose ends and I don’t want to be on this island when Buggy finds out we robbed him blind. I’m prepared to work my passage.”

To Nami’s disappointment the big-dicked bastard didn’t seem all that interested. He’d already gotten a freebie from her and it seemed that was enough. That made her fume. After getting a sample of her pussy he should be wanting more, not less. She was one hell of a fuck. She’d certainly gotten in enough unwilling practice.

Nami was not the sort to beg, but for the sake of a con with this much riding on it she had no pride at all. “Hey, look. Think about it. You’ve already tried me out. You know I’ve got a nice tight cunt, and I can promise you my ass is even tighter, and I can do things with my mouth that will make you see stars. Your crew will thank you everytime they dump a load in me.”

Nami had no intention of going through with what she was offering, she just needed the bastard to carry the treasure to his ship, and then she’d liberate the ship and the treasure. Oh, she might have to spend a bit of time as a relief station for him and his crew, but she was confident in her own ability. Give her two or three days and she’d have his ship and his treasure, and he and his crew would be floating around the East Blue in a lifeboat. She’d done it before.

“That’s what a ship’s girl is?” Captain Ryoga exclaimed in surprise, causing Nami to look at him with suspicion. What sort of Captain was he to not know what a ship’s girl was. Forget pirates, every ship that spent much time at sea with a large crew had at least one designated ship girl. Not having one was an invitation for the female members of the crew to get **** once the sexual tension got too much. Especially if they hooked up with just one male, or female, member. It was said that jealousy and blue balls had sunk more ships than all the pirates on the Grand Line. A hard learned lesson that had led to the formal adoption of ship’s girls across almost all fleets and ships. The only way around the need for one was an all female crew and ironically given the inclinations of the females who’d form that sort of crew even they tended to have a ship girl or two on board.

“You’re not a real ship’s captain!” Nami accused Ryoga, pointing a finger at him. “You’d know what a ship’s girl was if you were. Do you even have a boat?”

“Of course!” Ryoga blurted out, his expression giving the lie to his words. He seemed to realize this because he quickly said, “Well, not really. I was planning on stealing one at the port. Tell the truth I wasn’t even looking for the treasure. I’m looking for something a hundred times more valuable than this treasure. A certain girl.”

Nami rolled her eyes. “Let me guess, your childhood sweetheart?”

“Fuck no. The key to the biggest treasure in the world.”

“What? You don’t mean, One Piece?” Nami exclaimed in shock. There wasn’t a single person in the world who didn’t know about the One Piece. Gol D Rodgers legendary treasure. The secret of the location had died on the execution tower along with Rodgers, but that hadn’t stopped every pirate crew and fortune hunter in the world from drooling over the mere thought of it. All by itself it had started what some were calling the new age of piracy. Which had indirectly led to Nami’s village becoming the property of the Arlong Pirates.

“Sure. That’s the one,” Ryoga bobbed his head in agreement.

“This girl knows where One Piece is?”

“Well, not exactly. Does a key know where the lock it fits is? But if you can get her and that lock together , the location of that treasure will be revealed.”

*********************************************

Ranma was rather proud of this line of bullshit, even as he wondered what the fuck One Piece was. Not that he needed to know. He had participated in enough obscure treasure hunts to know that the path to them was never clearly cut and Nami was far more likely to believe him if he didn’t claim his girl side could take her straight to the treasure. Besides the whole point of this was to not end up leading. He wanted a nice relaxing life with no responsibility so he could focus on improving his mastery of martial arts. At his current level that meant a lot of inward focus and training of his chi. Far more mental training than physical. He was past the point where daily sparring would do him much good.

**************************************************************

“And this girl is on this island?” Nami asked. It was a silly question. Why else would he be here. But as tempting as a clue to the location of One Piece was Nami didn’t have the time to search for this girl. She needed to finish raising the money she needed to free her village.

Ryoga shifted the bag on his shoulder so it was between him and Nami as he answered. “She could be. She escaped from my boss’s invisible sky island. Jumped right over the edge, crazy bitch. We didn’t even know she was gone until hours after. But if she lived, this is the most likely place for her to end up.”

Nami felt as if she’d been gut punched. “Invisible Sky Island!” she said with a healthy dose of scorn, even as she felt like her heart would jump out her chest. The mystery of how Ranma had appeared in the sky had been bothering her analytical mind ever since it had happened. Sky Islands were fairy tales, along with things like Devil Fruit, but they wouldn’t be the first such to turn out to be true. There was no way Ryoga could know about Ranma nearly falling into Nami’s lap. And the story was too wild for him to think she’d believe it. It all fit. But just to be sure, she asked. “So, what does this girl look like.”

“Hmmm? What does she look like? Well, she’s a really cute shortstack. Red hair she likes to keep in a pigtail. Great tits. I guess her most distinctive feature was that she’s a virgin. Legend has it that the guy who pops her cherry is destined to find One Piece. I don’t know if that’s true. But that’s what my boss believes. It’s why he parked her on a sky island with nothing but other girls.”

Nami’s mind blanked for a bit as she realized she was the one who had popped Ranma’s cherry. Sure, she’d used her staff to do it, but technically she had done it.

*********************************************************

Ranma felt fairly safe making such a claim. No way would Nami hand over control of a huge windfall like that to some guy. Mind you. Ranma might have been comparing Nami too much to Nabiki, but so far the parallels between the two girls were so spot on that Ranma felt safe using it as the basis for his current half-assed scheme.

*********************************************************

Nami was doing her best to not hyperventilate. One Piece could buy off Arlong. All she had to do was get Ranma to him. And convince him she was the key to One Piece. Forget just buying Cokoyasi village’s freedom, It was small potatoes. Arlong would take his entire crew and leave, freeing not just Cokoyasi village but the entire Conomi chain. And all the berries she’d already acquired would be hers. There was no need to tell Arlong that she’d already popped Ranma’s cherry and was the fated discoverer of One Piece.

Sure, it sucked to be Ranma, but it was clearly her fate. It was just lucky that she’d fallen into Nami’s lap. For Nami that is. Besides, Ranma owed Nami. Becoming a cock-pocket for Arlong might not be much of a life, but it was better than ****. Nami paused that train of thought and gave a shudder at what she was considering.

She had done terrible things for the sake of her village, but she had been the one to pay the consequences for most of them. She had never contemplated selling someone into slavery to a beast like Arlong. If she were to do that she might as well give up on freeing her village and become a full fledged member of the Arlong pirates in truth.

No, she would keep this secret. She would take Ranma, and go to the Grand Line to get the treasure to buy off Arlong. And once she’d done that she would devote her life to finding One Piece. And when she did she would hire the strongest most vicious thugs there were and turn Arlong and his crew into fish sticks.

Nami was thankful that Ryoga could not see her face. She was usually cool as a cucumber, but right now she knew she was telegraphing every thought in her mind. With some effort she got herself under control and said, “Sounds like total bullshit to me. Are you sure your boss wasn’t smoking something when he came up with this story.”

“The boss is the leader of the Phoenix people. They have wings and can fly. That’s why they live on a flying island. They think he’s a god. I was there the last time he died, and his body turned into an egg and hatched him out as a child, but with all his memories.”

********************************************************

Ranma was able to say this in a believable way because a lot of it was it was actually true. The person Ranma was talking about had been called Saffron. He and his people were winged flying humans. He had been near god like in his power over flames. It had been the hardest fight Ranma had ever had, but in the end he’d killed Saffron, only to see him re-born from a large egg. Fortunately while Saffron retained his memory, he was trapped in the body of a child until he grew up. With Jusenkyo destroyed it would be impossible for Saffron to regain his full power so Ranma had seen no need to continue the fight. That, and no matter what Saffron had done, it wasn’t in Ranma to kill a child.

**********************************************************

Nami liked to think she had good instincts, and while some of what Ryoga had said didn’t pass the smell test, the fact he knew about Ranma and how she'd fallen out of the sky was hard to argue about. The tone of his voice when he talked about an immortal flame wielding boss carried the ring of truth. At the very least he believed it. Nami didn’t think Ryoga actually worked for this so-called god, but he knew about him, and he knew this Saffron wanted Ranma.

Ranma was the legendary bird in the hand. The map to the Grand Line was portable and easily concealed, but the rest of the treasure in this room was beyond Nami’s ability to make off with. She’d take what she could get.

“Well, I’ll let you go first,” Ryoga offered. He gestured toward the door with his free hand. Nami had the momentary thought that there was no way the bag of treasure on his shoulder was going to fit through the door. But that wasn’t her problem. Let him figure it out. Maybe he’d be like the monkey with his hand caught in the jar because he wouldn’t let go of the bait inside? Nami didn’t have anything against him. But the fewer people who knew about Ranma the better.

Nami slipped out the door, and headed for the back exit. She had barely gone ten steps when she heard Ryoga bellowing behind her. “Stop her! She’s stolen the captain’s grand line map!”

Nami cursed, suddenly realizing how Ryoga intended to get the treasure out. He was going to use her.

*****************************************************************

“Oh, crap! The Captain will kill us!” A trio of pirates yelled out as they went thundering past the door to the treasure room. “We have to get that map back before he finds out it’s missing.”

“Well, that worked out well,” Ranma said as he tossed the treasure down in the room. He had no real interest in it. All he needed in life was pocket money. A huge pile of gold was just asking for chaos to come visiting. He was sure that Nami would look after his girl side now that he had given her a reason to do so.

Whistling happily he exited the room and headed for the roof. He loved it when a plan actually worked. Ranma would shadow Nami and make sure nothing happened to her and that she got free of the pirates chasing her and then it was a life of leisure and peace for him, or rather, her.

What's next?
