“I think we haven’t checked this room yet,” Claire heard a girl say from the outside. Nevermind her pain, she needed to hide, but where? An artificial fireplace, bookcases from wall to wall, a grandiose desk, and a synthetic bear rug. She was in the study room. Why her boss thought the fake carcass was soothing was something beyond Claire.
However, it was the only place to hide in the room, so Claire scampered under it and prayed that her disguise looked good from afar. The fur kept her back cozy and warm, but the wooden floor under her was cold and rough. It wasn’t the most comfortable of places.
Claire didn’t have much time to reconsider as the door opened and two girls came into the room. They were two chic gals with more makeup on their face than what Claire owned in her home. Lipsitck, shadows, eyeliners, blush, the whole deal. To be fair, they knew how to use it to great effect, they looked quite pretty.
“Is this a library?”
“Wow, check that out! Is that a real fireplace? Ahh!”
“What happened?”
Claire bit her lip to stop from yelping, she stepped on her! The girl stepped on her! “Nothing, I just tripped on this- eww. Is this a real bear?”
“Don’t think so. It looks weird, doesn’t it?”
“Yeah. Like, what are these lumps in the back?” The girl prodded on the bear with her feet, stomping once again on Claire’s poor rump.
“Yeah, must be some kind of a replica. Ah!” The girl gasped, had she seen Claire? The naked woman braced herself to be discovered. “Is this what I think it is?”
“What?”
“Check it out! Luna’s childhood diary! Want to take a look?”
“Of course!” The girl ran to her friend’s side, walking on Claire again on the way. Why?!
“I can’t read a thing, let’s move towards somewhere with more light.” The two girls grabbed the diary and moved towards the fake fire, stomping on the bear rug in the process. Why?! Claire balled her fingers into angry fists. Why did they keep stepping on her?!
Ok, no, that was her limit. If Claire stayed in the room any longer, those two were liable to turn her into a real rug. While the duo was distracted, Claire sprinted out of there with the grace of a gazelle.
